the meet starts June 8th, but the lists are out for participants. The meet is at Drake this year.

for the women (ISU with 2 women in 3 events, SP, HT, discus)

for the men (ISU with 1 entrant, Clay in the HJ)

all 3 ISU athletes with great chances to be all americans. And hopefully ISU continues its' run of NCAA champions. We've had an NCAA champion for 5 straight meets (indoor/outdoor).

I guess those links take you to the NCAA page, then you may click on the men's list or women's list.

time to bump this up, the ISU athletic year ends this weekend with the NCAA track meet at Drake. The meet begins tomorrow, Kelsey Hanley throws tomorrow at 4pm (EST)

Weather will be HOT tomorrow, then a MAJOR cooldown for the rest of the week.

ISU has 3 athletes competing in 4 events, with all 3 having very realistic shots at making all american status

Kelsey Hanley threw the discus this afternoon at the NCAA meet, it only lists her as throwing 2 times, with a best of 140-8, which is well below her best, and if that is her best throw today then she won't advance to the finals.

Hanley's best throw was her 3rd throw, going 148-11, still far below her PR, she finished in 23rd place of the 24 competitors.

on a side note, Illinois State's Tim Glover leads the Javelin by SEVENTEEN feet heading in to the final 3 throws, if he can hang on and win then the MVC's streak of having at least one NCAA track champion will continue. I know it's at least 5 meets in a row (including indoor/outdoor) that the MVC has had a national champion. Indiana State, of course, has had a national champion for the past 5 meets

good news for MVC track fans, Illinois State's Tim Glover did win the Javelin, so this continues the MVC's streak to at least 6 NCAA meets in a row the MVC has had an individual champion.

bumping this back up, ISU has 2 athletes in action today, both Felisha Johnson and Major Clay will be looking to make all american status today! Weather looks better than last night's rain.

For live action and results, see the above note

well, Felisha Johnson didn't last long in the women's hammer throw, 3 fouls and she's out. I know it's raining in Des Moines, so that may have played a factor.

Hopefully she'll do better in the shot put and Clay will do well in the high jump today

meet is in a rain delay now, Major Clay cleared at 6-10.75", but has 2 misses at 7-0.25", normally this is an easy height for him, but with the weather being as bad as it is now many are not doing well. If he clears this height he'd be in good shape.

Major Clay misses on his 3rd attempt at 7-0.25" and is out of the competition. He finished in 20th place, I am sure he's very disappointed, weather was awful, had to jump in the rain.

Just 1 more event left for ISU, the women's shot put tomorrow with Felisha Johnson.

in women's pole vault news, Kylie Hutson's NCAA meet record survived a MAJOR assault tonight, 2 women cleared the same height she did last year (14-7.25), but neither was able to clear 14-9, so Kylie now shares the NCAA record with Melissa Gergel from Oregon and Tina Sutej from Arkansas.

Felisha Johnson's day is done, she threw the shot 52-6.5", but that isn't going to be enough to get her to the finals. She fouled on her 2nd and 3rd attempt.

She wound up in 18th place overall

Just wasn't a good NCAA meet for ISU this year for some reason. The teams are both pretty young, so there is a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
