The Captain Level
Ryan Brumfield has spectacular stats, averaging better than 10 yards a carry and rushing for more than 8,000 career yards. He was honored yesterday as an Old Spice Player of the Year in USAToday. The athletic director at Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown (Pa.) asserts that he is the best athlete the school has ever produced. Jim Brumfield (1966-1970), who rushed for nearly 2,000 yards as a Sycamore and is enshrined in the ISU Athletics Hall of Fame, was drafted and played with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jim's brother Larry also played here (1972-1976). Ryan's father and at least one other uncle also played college football.

Trent may not have known about the connection since Jim and Larry played at ISU before his time. I couldn't find ISU on the lists of schools recruiting him.

Congrats to Ryan for landing a scholarship; wonder how EMU came to be with the following others vying:

offers from Division I-A Buffalo and I-AA Towson.
Penn State asked for highlight film last week and he planed an unofficial visit to State College

Plus: Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple, Villanova, and Massachusetts all showed-interest

On that list, only Towson ranks ahead of EMU for football reasons
