Afterall, the only thing high school is for is to create college students...wait, no it's not. Walk into any school, look at its mission statement. You'll see statements that allude to preparing "people" for "life" not students for college. I'm in no way saying that college isn't important, I'm a college student for heaven's sakes, but education is not about producing college ready boxes to be shipped out at the end of their senior year, it's about equipping America's young men and women to be complete people. It's about educating the entire person, mentally, physically, emotionally.

I have all kinds of problems with this...

Lubbers sounds less than impressive in the article. But the reality is that High School is no longer HS as it once was in this state and our country. It is now just a mill and this program that they want to implement makes it a larger mill to create college students. The problem is that not all people are or should be college students. The suggestion by Lubbers is that the only way to be successful is through education...her brand of education. We all know, of course, that is not true. We know that education comes in many, many forms. We all know that a piece of paper with a signature of a college president on it is not worth much if you don't have experience, social skills and the ability to work hard and 'produce" (whatever that may mean).
