Would be great and nothing short of amazing if the new columnist they hire could be an ISU grad.

Kravitz was an IU grad.

Wouldn't make a difference really since the newspaper dictates what the sports department covers. Will be interesting to see what's left of the Star once the dust settles with Gannett.

First people complained about Bill Benner and then Kravitz. I'm sure the next guy won't be free from criticism either

Just to stir the pot a bit, but IMO, Kravitz does a very good job with MOST things he chooses to write about. I don't agree with some of what he writes about but he's dead on with much of it. I suppose it is an age thing because most of my friends like him as well. He'll be a great addition to channel 13. As for the paper, well that's another story. Losing a columnist is never an easy situation and their standing in the community likely took yet another hit with Bob's departure. I dropped my subscription to the Star long ago, but only because of the idiots that delivered it and couldn't follow simple rules of where I wanted the paper put and I wasn't about to pay $26 a month and have to search for wherever they decided to leave it every day.

I wasn't a huge fan of Benner but at least he was skilled/talented. Didn't agree w/ his positions but Krapitz is an idiot; to call him a hack would be to much of a compliment. Not sure he's ever been 'right' on a sports topic

Kravitz had many who liked it writings, and many who didn't like anything he wrote. Eithere way, I think he did a good job of what he was hired to do. He and his opinions sold newspapers.

I dropped my IndyStar subscription pre-Gannett sell-out. The only times I read Krapitz was an analog copy sent to me by a family member or friend; and today, a URL.

In all honestly, the few times (in the past 2-3 years) that I've read him... he's held true to form -- a hack.

I can't say that I disagree with any of this.

Bally #47 is correct. Kravitz is the best the Star had to offer and has a broad view of sports. Although I often disagreed with him, he always answered my emails and upon occasion would publish them. ISU athletics needs to improve to a point where serious coverage outside the Wabash Valley is warrented. Right now the institution isn't there.
