And Bird fouled out with several minutes to play. I believe the Russians played IU, Purdue, and Notre Dame also and they beat each of them.

I knew Bird fouled out of this game, but I'd forgotten that it was with nine and a half minutes to go! Great team win against a bunch that beat virtually everyone they played in the U.S. on that tour. But another college team that beat the Russians? Michigan State.

This is gonna be fun, remembering all these games!

If you’re not following Indiana State men’s basketball on Twitter (or, I suppose, Facebook), you’re missing out on these awesome flashbacks. They’re doing these for every game from the 78-79 season. Particularly if you weren’t born yet, you can really get a look at ISU basketball when it was the biggest thing around!

I really enjoy this - good work ISU!

40 Years Since #MarchWentMad

It's been 40 years since #MarchWentMad and Indiana State University was put on the map by Larry Bird and the great Sycamores. This is our tribute to those who brought the national spotlight to Terre Haute.

My wife and I were living in Terre Haute and attended every home game when Larry Bird was a Sycamore. It was a magical time, still hard to believe. Moved from TH in 1980, glad we left on a high note.
