Bally #50

The JSW Level
Normally during a normal hoops season, I am usually able to see 60% of the home games and that number probably climbs to 80% in the early season. To this point, I have only been able to attend ONE game, the BSU home opener, and my frustration is rapidly growing. I realize that I have had two surgeries in the span of a few months, and I was forced to skip two games because I wasn't well enough to attend, but EVERY game other than those two, I have sought friends to drive down with me (or a few in TH--to meet me) and to NO AVAIL.

I have determined that when you reach 60+, not EVERYONE has the time or the desire to take 5 hours out of their lives to come to Terradise and enjoy a game. Since most of my friends are married, that is obviously a negative thing when it comes to a "boys night out." Ten years ago, many of my married friends would go out of their way to go but as they mature (and stay married), they can't live without their other halves. And even though I can usually get someone home in Indy by midnight after a 7pm game, that is now TOO LATE to get home, even if they don't have to get up early the next day. Because of the social nature of MOST of my college friends, you'd think a chance to have a few beers, eat a Bally pizza and see old friends, you'd think they'd jump on the opportunity to see a game, but nope, they might say that they are getting over a COLD and probably should make sure to not try to give it to someone else. Enough of the excuses. I have made a SERIOUS effort to go to three games but have come up with nothing. I realize that I can't walk 100 feet without seeing someone I know in Hulman Center but I have NEVER liked to attend any event alone because the "bonding" is what makes it fun.

Tonight, obviously, I will be sitting at home and tracking the game on the computer. Not too sure why once again, I am 0-4 for finding someone to attend tonight. My frustration continues. :-(

Having said that....Go TREES.

Bally, I can appreciate your Sycamore Spirit! Nothing quite like being at a Sycamore game with some good friends. I would be more than happy to join you in any and all the Sycamore games if Icould. But, here goes another one of those excuses-Just to darn far away for me to get to many games. Especially on a week night. If I could, I'd be the first to join you. So for now, looks like Sycamore Vision for me too. Hope your heallth is improving and the Sycamores keep winning! GO SYCAMORES!

Thanks for the thoughts. I am doing pretty well considering, although I have 5 weeks of treatments coming soon. I have ALWAYS affiliated with people who are avid sports fans and loyal alumni but it just seems that as we "mature," some of it wears off, or so it would seem. I will be attending the Indy viewing party for the WSU-ISU game and hopefully I can rally some support for carpooling down for a few games coming up. I had an even harder time trying to get people to attend football games so it is not just hoops.

Hell drive down ---have fun---go to the game--get u a room relax and go back the next day! I'm serious --that's what I've done and yeah u drop a few more dollars but time is not on our side ---so I say if you feel like it --come down and enjoy it! This is what u enjoy so now is the time!
Glad u are doing better!

BUDD, That's typically how I do it too. Candlewood works pretty good for me. Walking distance to everything important-watering holes and so forth. Did get to last Saturdays game and had to do a drive up & back same day because we had someone with us that needed to go to work early Sunday. The one day up and back is a little much, but still had a great time at the game. We did the last E-ville game and overnighted at the "House Of Cards". I left a little more in E-ville than I would normally leave in the Haute-lou. GO Sycamores!

The problem is not in the details of coming down, at all. Since I am semi-retired, my motel budget is low but on the positive side, I can get away at anytime that works and even the drive back is easy for me to accomplish. I have multiple friends where I could crash that live in Terre Haute, the problem is where I used to have a regular list of buddies I could count on to go to games, now they pretty much are unable to ever join me and are constantly saying "not this time." That's what is frustrating me.

Like I said above, I plan to attend the Stack Pickle event Saturday and I hope find people that might be interested in going down to games from Indy. The 4-5 people I usually ask just keep saying NO. Why anyone would not want to see these guys play is beyond me.

Well, all I can say Bally, those "NO" people just don't know good basket when they see it and certainly have lost track of a great entertainment value. Heck, you can't go to the movies for anything close to the cost of a good Sycamore basketball game. The movie popcorn alone will set you back with another bank loan. Hope your list grows longer this Saturday and Good Health to you. GO SYCAMORES!

Since I have averaged a trip to the movie theater maybe ONCE in a decade, I have saved up some money there. Unless I have a medical conflict, I will definitely be coming to HC for the next two home games. Lookin' forward to it.
