So I got to thinking today, I was wondering what the all-time leading point leaders in NCAA history is for TWIN BROTHERS. After some light research I found that as of 2012 (I don't know if another duo holds the record since then) Travis and Chavis Holmes who both played at VMI ended their career with a total of 3,470. So I had to find out just how close or far the Scott bros. are to that number. Bryson currently has 1195 points and is averaging 23.3 a game for the Mastodons while Brenton has 1492 points and is averaging 13.9 a game. Bringing their total too 2,687 or 783 points shy of the supposed (if anyone knows if there is higher total by twin brothers please share) record. With 34 GUARANTEED games (thats a 1 and done in both conference tournaments and no post-season) they would need to both average 23 points a game to hit the record.

Do I think they will get the record? no. But with 2 nice post season runs you never no what might happen. Just something fun to keep an eye on the remainder of this college basketball season.

The only other highly successful basletball playing twins that come to mind are Tom and Dick VanArsdale.

They're also Hoosiers who had great careers in the NBA.

Just a quick update

Record: 3,470

Brenton Scott: 1,611
Bryson Scott: 1,353
Total: 2,964

Need: 506

Needed Average: 25.3 PPG (one and done in conference tourney and no post season)

In 3 seasons at IU and shorter seasons than today's 30+ games/year:

33 Tom Van Arsdale 1,252 1962–65
34 Dick Van Arsdale 1,240 1962–65

Still rank #33 & #34 all time.

Considering Brenton's career high in points in a game is 30, unless his twin starts scoring 40 a game I don't see this happening. Still a wonderful accomplishment for the brothers, but no records will be broken.

The 29.1 PPG needed average is for both players.....under 15 points a piece. So, it's absolutely still possible.

(unless I'm reading it wrong)

I believe it's for both. 379 divided by 2 is 189.5 points each. We have 7 guaranteed games left, which means Brenton would have to average 27 points per game in order to account for his half of the points needed.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, too...

Yes, I was reading it wrong. Whoops.

Record: 3,470

Brenton Scott: 1,757
Bryson Scott: 1,512

Total: 3,269

Needed: 201

Needed Average: 100.5 (2 guaranteed games left between the two of them)

Barring two unbelievable post seasons runs by both ISU & IPFW the Scott Bros' are going to come up short on breaking the record. Remember Bryson spent 2 seasons at Purdue, since then, he has scored 1,200 points at IPFW in only 2 seasons. Two great collegiate careers!
