For the life of me, I still don't know how those guys in the landing craft did what they did that morning. I cannot fathom the courage they mustered to do their duty when they knew that the minute that landing craft door went down, they were gonna be riddled with machine gun fire.

My hat's off and my eternal thanks to those incredible men!
 
Seems like a day that is easy for people to forget given how soon it falls after Memorial Day. Good post.
