If EIU or other schools failed to provide Peanut Butter, a variety of dairy butters, a plethora of jams, jellies and marmalades in the cafeterias or training tables of the variety of "student" athletes, bribing them with wagonloads of dark money via NIL collectives is a sh*t solution.

Tell everyone how many other ISU athletes you lived with off-campus? Tell everyone that you spent every dime of your ISU provided Room and Board $$$ on your room and board...

I'll "hang-up" and wait for an answer.

I know you think you are dunking on me. It used to be illegal for the school to provide certain things such as cream cheese for the bagels you could get in the athletic offices.

Florida State just got in trouble a few months ago from the NCAA because one of the assistants gave a recruit a ride in their car. You have millions of dollars getting passed around with NIL, but giving a kid a ride is the straw that broke the camel's back 🙄😂.

the whole story is that a Florida State assistant football coach violated NCAA rules when he facilitated an impermissible recruiting contact between a transfer prospect and a booster. EVERYONE should know that contact between a booster and a recruit are a huge no-no. No pity for FSU here - they have been in trouble enough to know the rules.

Soooo.... you DID get the PB for your bagel off the training table...

And you, I and anyone else that follows college sports knows you had to eat a dry bagel, b/c the $ec schools, Ohio $t, Penn $t, the old $WC schools like $MU, texa$, texa$ a/m, etc, etc wouldn't put out a jar of creamy and/or crunchy BUT they'd use this person

1712937768921.png to drive you to the nearest gourmet store to collect a box of creamy & crunchy and then drive you BACK to the "dorm" on campus where she'd "artfully apply" the PB to the bagel of your choo$ing.

Bitch all you want on the $tupidity of NCAA "rules" but they EXI$T becau$e of unmitigated greed, envy and lack of any ethic$ or moral$.

I missed the bagel topping days of the NCAA. Im pretty sure the NCAA exists because the outsiders wanted in on the unmitigated greed

no, No and NO! The NCAA exists, was created in 1906, for the sole purpose of cleaning up YOUR sport - college football.

Far too many players were being horribly injured, maimed and killed in the late 19th century that ol' Big Stick Teddy Roosevelt worked with colleges to form a self-governing organization to KEEP CONGRESS FROM doing it.

But b/c there are far, FAR too many schools who DIDN'T want to follow the rules they all agreed upon, you have the chaos today.

Imagine how "well organized" college sports would be TODAY with Congress calling the shots vice the schools themselves.

exists and created are 2 very different things. it was created for whatever reason you want to say. I dont care. It exists because a bunch of schools dont want the other schools to take off with all the money, which will probably happen soon.

It's not me saying it but the facts (and they're not alternate...)

The external squabbles weren't with schools but rather the AAU and their angelic leader Avery Brundage.

The internal squabbles are all self-imposed within the Div I classification and have, generally, originate from the delusional populace that inhabits the $outhea$tern part of the country. There are other pockets... the region that long $upported the $chool$ of the $outhwe$tern Conference.

There has to be some umbrella, organizing structure -- name a sport that doesn't have one.

Name a US State that DOESN'T have an organizing body for interscholastic athletics

Currently, there's a level of "effective anarchy" in intercollegiate Div I $port$. There needs to be some control($)

Instead of saying "There needs to be" say "I want"

and I never disputed how it started and i don't care. You started this thread by talking shit about something you thought I was making up.

No, I believe you -- How horrible your life was in being forced to eat a dry bagel, the horror

If you're enjoying the current anarchy of the NIL, you're likely in the minority

I have never fucking cared if a poor athlete was eating a plain bagel - talk about your 1st world problem

We didnt get bagels. Don’t really care how you feel about me.

The bagel was just a smaller indicator of the bigger issue but I understand how you don’t want to compensate the people who produce the product you are selling. I get it, they made some good money back in the day that way till they made it illegal. Like Eric Cartman said. “Student Athaletes, that is brilliant sir”

Of course, you're right -- all of the problems are because of the rule makers, never the rule breakers

The world of college sports is changing as do all things, just like the presidential election don’t bitch about it if you don’t Vote. Well in that same concept, don’t bitch about coach Graves or our athletic program if your not donating to ISU and COC NIL, I don’t care if it’s $100 a year combined, just donate or keep your mouth shut. It’s the landscape of college sports.

Well said - I've donated to the ISU Foundation, Alumni Association and the Varsity Club for over 20 years but I will not be donating to CoC.
