Just wanted to mention again how unhittable he was last night. The newspaper said one gun had him at 100 last night. Don't think that's correct but he was 96-97 a lot of the night. His ERA is a little deceiving. He struggled early in the year and had trouble in that mid week inning but over the last month he has pitched like an all american and first round draft pick.

The guy on the radio mispronounced his name all night. He was saying Petrishka, and I was like who was that, until I realized it was Petricka.

I have heard that in the first inning he did hit 97. For much of the game, he had to rely on his fastball a lot as hit breaking stuff wouldn't cross the plate. Perhaps that's part of the reason they couldn't hit him is that he wasn't logically predicable some of the time. The Shockers' pitching coach, Brent Kremnitz, had a show after the game on KNSS and he talked about Petricka in glowing terms, asking why he was still in college. Yes he knew that Petricka was drafted last year in the 34th round, but he said this is a "pro guy" and that he would actually be talking him up to pro scouts. Kremnitz, who had been at Wichita State for 32 years, was also amazed at the poise Jake had even when he was in dire straights in the sixth and eighth innings. Kremnitz said, "We couldn't solve him." He called Petricka "outstanding." WSU pitcher Jordan Cooper's steller performance was overlooked and he was tagged with the loss. Kremnitz said this was "a very good college baseball game." The Shockers were embarrassed by Nebraska Tuesday night in a 14-0 shutout against several pitchers who didn't have Petricka's stuff. Last night, Petricka dominated them legitimately.

I maybe wrong but isn't je just a Junior? I seem to think I heard somewhere that maybe he had Tommy John surgery. Maybe he sat out a year somewhere along the line?

Good question. Yes for purposes of eligibility, I guess he is a Junior, but he is graduating this year as a senior in college. He was out a season with Tommy John. The question is how he was draftable last year, if once you enter a four-year NCAA school, you have to have completed your Junior year to be eligible for the draft?

I'm pretty sure you can be drafted after two years of JC or three years out of high school. So if u go to a 4 year and play right away u have to wait 3 years. In his case he only played one year if JC but was technically there 2 years and didn't get drafted went to ISU and played his sophomore season but 3rd out of high school. Whether or not he has another year, he's gone after this season.
