This is fascinating. Note what they say about ISU:

“Budget, facilities, support are the worst in the league and Terre Haute is not exactly where you would want to be.” – Missouri Valley assistant

2nd is being upgraded as we speak and will be at least mid pack, 3rd wasn't that way as recent as 5 years ago, and 1st is well..you got me on that one lol. Wish curtis and clink would pony up to get us to the mid or upper tier of the conference like they did for football, but to their defense I guess neither has gotten a chance to hire their own coach and the only 2-3 years they've been here hasn't screamed "let's throw more money at the staff to use, that's what's holding them back from a championship!"..You'll see me and others raise hell if they underfund their own hire or if GL gets it turned around and wins on their watch..Then that is their fault and is completely unacceptable.

Anyways, fun article to read, but if this is suppose to be the proof that this is the best we can do here? Not buying it..

Not gonna put to much weight in this although it is fun just to compare. Can't argue a whole heck of a lot with our rankings, except for our "history/tradition" being ranked 8th in the conference is a little crazy. We are easily top 3 in that category; my top 3 are: Indiana State, Bradley, Southern Illinois (in no particular order) with maybe Evansville rounding out the top 4. We have some of the biggest names in college basketball history associated with our program. We were a premier program in the 40s, 50, 60, 70s. Unfortunately we did absolutely nothing in the 80s-90s and lost all momentum.

it's obvious that the history/tradition category is only for NCAA Div I tourney bids; it would also be interesting to see how they define recruiting base... is it state wide? 100 miles or simply looking at current rosters

over the years, Ive heard that ISU alumni represent something like 10% or more of all principals, administrators in the state, if they were legit alumni, they'd "artfully" steer more kids, players, athletes to State -- I really think we miss out on a ton of kids

My reply to whoever put this together is that he can go fuck himself.

Not “he.” It’s “they.” As in MVC coaches. This is what our peers think of ISU. Another reason I support Lansing. He beats P5 programs and wins his share of MVC games using resources our peers call worst in the MVC.

Until ISU decides it wants to have a competitive men’s basketball team my expectations will always remain realistically in line with our current commitments (read: smallest budget in the MVC). This is why I’m so pleased when Lansing and his teams over-perform and beat up IU, Butler, Colorado, UNLV, etc. As far as finishing 5th, 6th, or 7th in the MVC at the end of the year? How could anyone realistically expect otherwise over the long term?

If we’re a Thursday team this year and next the writing is on the wall. Frankly the fact Lansing keeps us out of Thursday most years is impressive in and of itself given what he has to work with.
