I never met him but believe he was a good man. I had the pleasure of voting for him several times. I wasn't old enough to vote when he ran the first time. I was hoping to vote for him in 1980 as he was on the short list of VP candidates but Reagan chose Bush instead. R.I.P.

Met him in front of the ISU Bookstore during his '76 Campaign for Senate v. Vance Hartke of Evansville. I was "Hartke fan" simply because of geography back then (and a Democrat). Funny how life changes a person...
