Dakota Bacus turned in a solid start, leaving the game after seven, with the Lions leading 3-2 (2 earned). Bacus had a rough first inning, but sailed through the next six. But a shaky bullpen couldn't keep the game close as the Lions came up with four runs on one hit (along with a balk, a wild pitch and three walks) in the eighth to seal the victory.
Naturally, the first game of the year is not a precurser to how the season will unfold. It's good to get the butterflys and rust out and by opening day you have a pretty good idea of what direction the team will take. On paper, we have a team with a lot of potential! Go Sycamores!
