Kudos to the girls for winning the 1st game today of a 10 game homestand. They beat EIU 3-0 today. Hopefully this homestand goes better than the last, in which they beat St. Louis in game one, then lost 9 in a row at home

I was a block away from the ladies game this afternoon and I could hear the game going on. Wish I had time to watch some of it. (I was taking a long overdue tour of the campus). Good grief, it had been long enough that my fricking mouth dropped. Student Rec Center VERY impressive, that's for sure. Girl in in the very short spandex pants on the treadmill, highlight of my day. She was a 12 on a 10 scale. Went to dinner at Sonka's and skipped the Bally. Am I aging?
 
nwi, my o.f.c. status was in serious jeopardy as I almost had my club card pulled while that young lady was glaring at my perverted eyes staring at her. I am now suffering from a severe case of co-ed fever. Not only are the ladies prettier than I remember, there are plenty of them. Seriously, I was totally impressed with what they have done to that campus. Spent a couple of hours in the ISU Foundation office and that too, is quite elegant by ISU standards. (and NO, I was not applying for Gene's job). All things considered, a great day in the Haute, and I am planning to be back a week from Saturday for a cook out. No construction delays on I-70, btw.

I was there today. The Lady Trees played very well overall and Kristen Felker pitched a great game. A couple of errors in the 2nd inning allowed the only 3 runs to score. Was not impressed with IU whatsoever. We had several chances to score and had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the 7th but couldn't punch through. Big weekend this weekend. Team has played the upper half of the MVC, now it's the bottom half. They have a very legitimate chance at making the MVC tourney (top 8). They have the pitching and defense to make it. SHould be exciting.
 
I was referring to both baseball and softball losing to IU today, so we didn't have any luck in that regard, I should have added that to my original comment.

ISU played a DH vs. Bradley today and won the 1st game 2-1, but lost game two 4-2. ISU now has 2 wins in MVC play, but they're now alone in last place as Wichita State won 3 at Evansville this weekend.

the next 5 games of this homestand are all MVC games, 2 against Illinois State Weds., then 3 against WSU next weekend.

If there is any hope of making the postseason MVC tourney then they really need to win 3-4 of these games.
 
ISU hosted Illinois State today for a DH, losing game one 3-0, but winning game two 6-1! So ISU is now tied for 9th place with Wichita State. Each has 3 wins. WSU plays at Missouri State tonight in a doubleheader.

ISU still has one game left at Illinois State, and 3 game series left vs. WSU, at Missouri State, and at Evansville. Need to win some of those series.
 
The softball team lost game 1 of their DH with 9th place WSU today 4-1, in game 2 ISU is currently up 2-1.

Today is also senior day at ISU, so this is the last home series for ISU this year

ISU won the 2nd game vs. WSU today 8-2, it's ashamed they couldn't win that first game, really needed to sweep WSU this weekend to have a shot at making the MVC tourney.

Need to win tomorrow for sure vs. WSU.

Then they're going to need to win some games vs. Illinois State (1), UE (3), or MSU (3) to end the season.
 
Softball wins series

ISU softball was able to hold off a furious WSU rally in the 7th and hung on to win 7-6 to win their first MVC series of the year! Congrats girls!

With the win ISU moves into 8th place in the MVC as they will move ahead of WSU, and at the present Creighton is winning easily against Evansville, so ISU passes both UE and WSU in the standings today.
