The All-MVC Level
if the ISU softball team wants any hope of making the MVC tourney they've got to sweep Evansville this weekend.

Not sure where SycEm went, but he/she usually is on top of this.

Sorry - haven't been on the forum in a while. Softball takes the top 8 (with the host taking the 8th spot if they do not qualify) - so I think our Sycamores are in a good spot. We are currently in a virtual tie for 8th at 6-11 with Wichita at 7-12. We can certainly move up with our remaining schedule. 5th is not out of the realm of possibility. Here are the standings and who everyone has left to play:

1. Creighton 15-4 at Missouri State (3 games) vs Wichita State (3 games)
2. Drake 11-6 at Wichita State (3 games) vs UNI (3 games)
3. Southern Illinois 10-6 vs Bradley (3 games) at Illinois State (2 games) at Indiana State (3 games)
4. UNI 12-8 at Illinois State (3 games) at Drake (3 games)
5. Missouri State 7-7 vs Creighton (3 games) at Bradley (3 games)
6. Illinois State 8-9 vs UNI (3 games) vs SIU (2 games) at Evansville (3 games)
7. Bradley TOURNEY HOST 7-9 at SIU (3 games) vs Indiana State (2 games) vs Missouri State (3 games)
8. Wichita State 7-12 vs Drake (3 games) at Creighton (3 games)
9. Indiana State 6-11 vs Evansville (3 games) at Bradley (2 games) vs SIU (3 games)
10. Evansville 3-14 at Indiana State (3 games) vs Illinois State (3 games)

Also - our 6 conference wins already ties how many we had each of the last two seasons. If we get to double digits it will be only the second time since 1989 - the other time coming in Coldren's 4th season in 2006 when we won 12.

Indiana State wins game 2 by a 2-1 score, so a sweep for ISU today.

this betters their shot to make the postseason MVC tourney.

Need a 3rd win vs. Evansville on Sunday now.

With the Saturday sweep - Sycamores have moved into 7th place going into Sunday, but they may have suffered a huge loss when Sr. SS Mere Simpson went down in the 2nd game. Looked like she blew out her knee by the way the play happened, but she was able to walk off the field on her own, so who knows. Current standings after Saturday's games:

1. Creighton 16-5
2. SIU 12-6
3. Drake 12-7
4. UNI 12-10
5. Illinois State 10-9
6. Missouri State 8-8
7. Indiana State 8-11
8. Bradley 7-11
9. Wichita State 8-13
10. Evansville 3-16

Today's final games of each series: Evansville at Indiana State; Bradley at Southern Illinois; Northern Iowa at Illinois State; Creighton at Missouri State; Drake at Wichita State

Monday DH - Southern Illinois at Illinois State
Wednesday DH - Indiana State at Bradley

Final Weekend Series: Southern Illinois at Indiana State; Illinois State at Evansville, Missouri State at Bradley; Northern Iowa at Drake; Wichita State at Creighton

Indiana State did win game 3 over Evansville today by a 3-0 count, maybe SycEm can let us know when the last time ISU swept a 3 game series was?

Anyway, ISU is 9-11 in the MVC now, would be nice to see WSU, Bradley, Missouri State, and Illinois State all lose today too.

Bradley, Illinois State, and Missouri State lost today, WSU won over Drake, but I think ISU has the tiebreak over WSU.

So 3 games helped ISU today.

SycEm, how is the injured ISU player doing?

Nice win today without Simpson in the lineup. Simpson was in shorts and a uniform top with knee wrapped - but no crutches. Good alumni turn out also for their alumni day. Wood was sharp and ISU got some timely hits. ISU has now won 7 of their last 8 conference games.

ISU swept a 3 game series from UNI last year in Terre Haute - but this is the first 3 game sweep this season. Sycs do have the tie-breaker over Wichita State if it comes down to that - having won 2 of 3 in Wichita this year. Here are standings after Sunday's games:
1. Creighton 17-5
2. SIU 13-6
3. Drake 12-8
4. UNI 13-10
5. Illinois State 10-10
6. Missouri State 8-9
7. Indiana State 9-11
8. Wichita State 9-13
9. Bradley 7-12
10. Evansville 3-17

Monday, SIU plays a DH at Illinois State - would be great to see the Salukis sweep those games.
Wednesday, we go to Bradley for a DH - any wins we get really solidify our spot.

Final Weekend Series:
Southern Illinois at Indiana State
Illinois State at Evansville
Missouri State at Bradley
UNI at Drake
Wichita State at Creighton

Bradley gets in automatically as the host.
