There is a talent gap between the top 5 FCS schools and everyone else. Week by Week, the scores show it.

49-0 was disappointing, but the first half was disappointing in its own way. On the surface, it looks like USD walked all over the Sycamores from the opening kickoff, but it really wasn't that way at all.

1. South Dakota scores on the second play of the game, a 66 yard TD pass.
2. The teams are both scoreless until 6:35 remains in the half when South Dakoto goes up 14-0.
3. A long TD pass with 12 seconds left in the half made it 21-0 and I am sure the air went out of the ISU balloon.

In many ways, the ISU defense fought South Dakota to a standstill at the line of scrimmage, but the reality of our season long opponent QB rating being nearly 150 showed up in two big plays.

Ya, I agree. I still think we have talented guys who are physically capable. I mean they can run fast, and enjoy playing the game.
What’s in between the ears is where I find other teams players are better than us. Running the correct routes, blocking assignments, knowing where the First down markers are etc… That’s where better coaching comes into play. If you are 3rd and 8, and you run 5 yards to catch the ball, then you are
punting.
