Doesn't matter how weak their schedule might be (about as good as IU in the non-conference) they have still won every game on the road. A tough one coming today at Northern Iowa but I doubt they plan to give an inch. Go Barry Go!

SIU is one of just four Division I teams still unbeaten on the road, joining James Madison (7-0), Providence (5-0) and Saint Joseph's (5-0).

"We like to play better on the road than we do at home for whatever reason," Hinson said. "I think it says a lot about our mental toughness. I think it says our kids have bought in and they've bonded."

They're playing well. Have to give them credit, but they've got some tough ones ahead AND they have lost at home twice. I don't know what it is for us on the road. I don't feel like we have that much of a HCA. But I have to admit we've had some big victories at home.

"big victories at home" ? you are talking in the past right, when we had Odom, Menser, Renn, Green?

appears they will be axing men's and women's tennis, among other major cutbacks

will be interesting to see what ILS, EIU, Chicago State, and WIU do as well, as I'm sure they will need to make cuts.

EIU and WIU have announced cuts and layoffs. This is just the first round if the budget doesn't get settled more cuts to come. BTW this is SIU's second round of cuts. My understanding is Chicago State canceled spring break and moved graduation up so they can shutdown the university. It is quite serious right now.

IL ST has said they will continue to hold the line on expenses, but at this point don't plan to layoff or furlough anyone. The President told employees a few weeks ago that if the budget crisis didn't resolve soon that they would consider further cuts.

In other news U of I fired there football coach they just hired 3 months ago (they will pay his salary) and will spend $21M on a new head football coach. Great hire for them, but the timing has created backlash from some.

If Chicago State does close (or even if they don't, but eliminate D-I sports), then that is one less member in the WAC conference. Not that it would affect much, but it'd be interesting to see what would transpire from that.

I get the impression there may be some conference realignment this summer. What that is, who knows? Does the Big XII add 2 more members? Do WE add 2 more members (nothing against Loyola, but hindsight tells me we should have added Valpo instead). I still say even now they'd be a great add for us.

But anyway, we'll see, usually if there is conference realignment it's done by July 1.
