Jason:
Per our conversation yesterday at Moe & Johnny's.
I have a hunch that our teams are better off with players who were selected to the Indiana State High School all-star team.
I believe we only have one on this years team (Kessinger) and he is currently on the injury list.
Our roster is filled with players from Texas, IL, Wisc, AZ and Alabama and only four (4) from Indiana!
Furthermore, it is my contention that Indiana based players are typically more sound with fundamentals.
I'll take a Mike Menser type player anyday over the more athletic guards we currently have now.
Our current players are poor at passing and making decisions with the ball.
I'd suggest we put more effort into recruiting Indiana kids.
Do you have any data to support my hunch?
Thanks.

Kessinger was not an all-star.

There is no data to support that.

Some of our best players were IN all-stars. That's because they were good players and we have a better chance of getting a good player from IN than from somewhere else.

All that being said, I love to get good players from IN, but it is tough.
The pecking order in IN, in my opinion, is IN/PU/ND, Big Ten, Big East, Butler, (UE, ISU, BSU). Of course, those are subject to disagreement but, regardless of order, it's easy to see how much competition there is.

Any all-stars we can get are usually a good recruit for us.

Not every Indiana All-Star is a legit Div I player... Matt Renn wasn't an Ind All-Star but was a beast for us. Find the BEST players wherever they may be.
AAU has killed a LOT of fundamentals
