I don't follow the MVFC all that closely, but I'm at least familiar with the Sycamores, and a Fourth Place preseason pick is a little surprising. We have ALL this returning talent, finished better than Illinois State last year, but still were picked below them. Seems a little weird.

The FCS world seems to be very enamored of ILSU this season. Not sure why, other than people say they have lots of returning talent. I don't follow other MVFC teams nearly as closely as I follow our beloved Trees, so I'm not really qualified to speak to this. But we did beat them last year, and we have lots of returning talent, as well.

In the grand scheme of things, preseason polls don't mean squat. We have to go prove it on the field. Which I really believe the team will do. Can't wait for football season!!!

I follow the MVFC pretty close and I was expecting to be picked 5th. So 4th surprised me too, but for a different reason. Everything is in the exact order I thought it would be, except I thought UNI would be picked 4th ahead of us.

The votes were so close it's basically a 3-way tie for third. At least that's the way I'm looking at it.

Illinois State (289 points), Indiana State (279 points) and UNI (266 points) were tightly bunched for the third-, fourth- and fifth-place spots, while Illinois State (3) and Indiana State (1) also received first-place mentions.

IMO, if they had UNI and ILSt flipped I'd be ok with 4th, otherwise I think we should be 3rd. Ive never really believed in them and we should have beat them when they went to the national championship. Had we done that they would have lost to NDSU in the previous rounds.
