For the second straight day, ISU scored early and often and defeated mid-week foes by a wide margin...this time 14-3 over Ball State.

ISU's Kyle Rupe was not as sharpe as some previous outings, but had a quality start. Rupe went six innings, giving up two runs on six hits...no walks and three strikeouts. Kudrecki pitched the seventh facing three batters...striking out two of them. Tyler Browning came in for the eighth and gave up one hit--a home run. Machado came on to close out the game, who got two strikeouts and a ground ball out. Rupe is now 5-0 on the season.

Once again, no errors for ISU.

This is the first win in Muncie since 1995...but the Cardinals have had a tough season this year, winning just FOUR games against 16 losses!

ISU now is 21-5 on the season. 21 wins in the past 23 games!

On offense, The Sycamores has 14 runs on 14 hits...all scored in the second through sixth innings. All of the starter had at least one hit...with five getting two hits. The big blast was a grand slam by Landon Curry in the sixth.

I don't want to be a downer, but these two mid-week games have been against hapless teams. The Sycamores cannot be fat-headed as they return to face Illinois State at home this weekend. Hopefully our pitching can trump their batting...as they are hitting .313 as a team and have a 16-6 record. They beat Illinois yesterday 16-7. The good news is that their pitching is not as sharp as a year ago. Their collective ERA is 4.47. But, Illinois State averages eight runs per game. Our pitching needs to be right on!

I know the Cardinals are having a bad year, but anytime the Sycamores soundly defeat them is a very good thing. Just ask any of the OFC!

I would agree that BS is having a down year, but it is still a good win. They are a D1 school with quality talent. I was at the game today and what I saw was as much poor coaching on BS's part as anything. (As many mental errors and lack of exacution as fielding errors). The last two coaches from BS went on to coach Big Ten teams. That is a pretty impressive resume. The reason they are down, I beleive, is lack of leadership. Anytime you can throttle a D1 team it is a good day.
