Brought back a lot of memories.....

Lots of old faces in there, too, like Beanie Cooper along with WTHI-TV's Bob Forbes and Mike King. The Beanie Cooper appearance on the Dennis Raetz Show, preempting the showing of highlights from the Homecoming game win over Southern Illinois, was the topper. Beanie wanted to answer critics and he basically took over the show. Oh those were the days.

Also, check out the attendance of games back then.

But the best part for me on the video was watching the highlights of the 40-16 win over Cincinnati at the Hoosier Dome and the reaction of Coach Raetz after the game as he walked off the field, pumping his fist as Indiana State fans applauded.

Also the win over Ball State in the final game of the season, also at the Hoosier Dome. The Sycamores won 24-23 despite the efforts of BSU freshman running back Bernie Parmalee (who went on to play in the NFL). The fight in the end zone between Indiana State and Ball State after a score was wild. Six players ejected, three from each team. The game officials didn't see who started the fight, so they just picked three players from each team and thumbed them out of the game. Wild. The Sycamores secured the win when Ball State missed a 32-yard field goal with only seconds remaining in the game.

I had a field pass during the ISU-BSU football game with the brawl at the Hoosier Dome and was only a few feet from the whole melee on the sidelines and believe me, it was a BIG incident. I will never forget it. After having a few adult beverages during the game, I felt I should help out but fortunately, reality kept me from doing so. What a tremendous year that was. I remember most of it like it was yesterday. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, the record was only 5-6.....but the Sycamores beat 2 of 3 I-A schools....

on the schedule that year. Played well for three quarters at Georgia Tech then just got wore down late. And then won four in a row to end the season, including the huge win over Cincinnati and the last-second win over Ball State.
