Sycamore Proud

The Nicks Level
It is my hope and desire that ISU and the Forrest collaborate on a short recognition time before the Liberty game with the Victory Bell and all Sycamores players, coaches and staff on the field being honored by at least 8.000 standing, screaming fans.

they have 2 weeks to promote this game, start tomorrow and get the word out ISU needs a huge crowd, how about another shot at operation 10k?

You silly guys. There will be no more than usual done for the next game, which is to say that nothing will be done. The Victory Bell will be stashed in the football office, never to be seen on campus again. The buzz surrounding this win will dissipate by Wednesday of this week, and everyone will forget.

Now might also be a good time to start Friday night pep rallies before a Saturday home game. But nah, that's not what ISU does. ISU is the textbook example of ignoring the iron when it's hot, and trying to strike it when it's stone cold. It's a lost cause.

Now, ISU, make me look like an idiot. Please.

Can't we at least declare temporary stay of cynicism - just maybe a couple more days, and enjoy this victory?

Walter Sobchak: That's right, Dude, they peed on your fucking rug.

Sorry, dude. Can't help it. I've been down this road too many times in the past...

Look guys, I'm not saying a thing negative about the team or the coaching staff. They've given us something to really rally around!!! THIS TEAM ROCKS!!!

My cynicism was directed, as always, at the virtually non-existent marketing efforts to capitalize on the momentum the football team has built. As is usually the case, when something big happens and people start to take notice of the team, you hear crickets chirping from the corner of 4th and Chestnut. I've been involved in situations before where we, here on this board, tried to help, but when the support isn't there from the school, it's like spitting into the wind.

That said, someone was listening, because the idea from our board regarding display of the Victory Bell at the next game is being done, along with the ability to get your picture taken with it. That's great. Not terribly difficult, mind you, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

There is just so much more that could be done...for OUR football team...

Did anyone else catch the thing Ball State did before the game? On Family Day, the younger kids could pay $5, for which they received a t-shirt, which then allowed them to run goal line to goal line. It was fun to watch the little kids, and I bet they still raised some change after paying for the youth size t-shirt! Shoot, with sponsors, they probably didn't pay for the shirts!
