We've got eight games remaining in the regular season.

At least one game remaining in the conference tourney.

Let's hear everyone's predictions, good, bad, terrible, or indifferent to close this year's campaign.

Feb 6th vs Evansville (WIN)
Feb 9th @ Bradley (WIN)
Feb 13th @ Valpo (LOSE)
Feb 16th vs SIU (WIN)
Feb 20th vs ILSU (WIN)
Feb 23rd @ MSU (LOSE)
Feb 27th @ Drake (LOSE)
Mar 2nd vs UNI (WIN)

So, I have us finishing the season at 5-3, that would put us 16-14 overall and 8-10 in the MVC. Is 8-10 good enough to keep us out of Thursday? Possibly.

Also, is 16-14/8-10 gonna be good enough for Lansing to keep his job at least one more year (in the eyes of Clinkscales)? Many of you aren't gonna like the thought of it, but I'd say yes.

I'm not going to go through and individually pick each game because we could very easily win or lose any of them. My prediction is that we finish the season 3-5. That would put us at 14-16, 6-12 MVC, and more than likely playing on Thursday. I'd think Lansing would come back next year even with that record. I just can't see ISU buying him out.

That would be good enough to put us in the CBI or CIT lol. I'll say 4-4 possibly, but more likely 3-5. Lansing will be here for one more year no matter what, even if Clink wants to get rid of him.

Without a doubt, this is a tough stretch of games...and all could go either way. Here's how I see it unfolding.

Feb 6th vs Evansville (LOSE) Even though we beat Eville at Eville

I'd guess two wins remaining.

Setting aside his contract status, is there anyone who would argue Lansing should get one more year? I know some want to argue, "Why ask that question if he's coming back no matter what? Support him and the team in the meantime." I hear that and I'm done with that logic. I'm tired of supporting this team and coach. The lack of effort doesn't warrant support.

I'm in the same camp as those who say 2-3 more wins, then done on Thursday in St Louis.

3 possible wins maybe 6, who knows, with this team or any other Lansing team in recent memory. So far as his job, I'm afraid money is the only factor involved at all.

I’d argue one more year. Next year’s roster aligns nicely and worth seeing how it’ll play out. If he can’t win with next year’s roster, it’s not gonna happen.

"Wait 'til next year" sounds like a broken record and why would you believe that the roster will remain intact and not suffer some serious defections after this season dumpster fire? If he stays another year and with some stretch of the imagination wins a game or two more than he loses do you still keep him based on one "lightning in a bottle" season? No no not me.

We're 1-1 since this prediction. I'll stick with it and say we go 2-4 to finish the year. Then we'll play on Thursday and somehow win, then lose by 30 the next day to Loyola for our annual St Louis blowout.
