Just a shot in the dark here but it could be because most folks don't give a rat's duff about anyone else's political or religious views.
I think it's because people get so wound up when they hear someone from the other side talking. I do it too. I don't know why it becomes so personal.

I have to agree with Sycamorebacker on this one.

Maybe we should have two separate sections, one for each side. Then you could discuss issues with people of your own persuasion. For example, I might want to discuss current issues and politics with other conservatives. I just can't stand to hear liberals talk. It doesn't sound to me like they are thinking and I can't stand that.
It would be interesting to hear from some of the young liberals, though, that came through a liberal college education. I would like to know why they think the things they do.
