Why do the Sycamores refuse to take over first place in the league and why do they let the Dastardly Shockers off the hook from a series sweep.........................great overall record but just never seem to win "The Big Game" ??????????????

GO SYCAMORES anyway !

The "Big Game" or Games....are when Missouri State comes to town....

And the MVC tournament. Those are the real big games. It's tough in college baseball to sweep a team. Sure, it happens sometimes. But it's tough to sweep a team. The other team has pride, they have character and if they have players at all, they are going to battle you because they dont want to go back home on the short end of a three-game sweep.

No Tom the "Big Games" will be the series at SIU this coming weekend. They were in contention and got swept away (yes a series sweep so somebody apparently knows how to do it) at Illinois State this past weekend. They will be smarting from that experience I am sure and our Sycamores better be more than ready to compete in Carbondale or the regular season ending series with Missouri State won't mean much as far as for a shot at the regular season championship and Valley tourney seeding. Surely not but three losses at SIU, which is not out of the question the way this team is not hitting, and this record setting team could go from 2nd to next to last in the league in a heartbeat. Better get those bats awake ..................................NOW !

***I was at the Saturday game and really enjoyed it. Didn't make it on Sunday and not sad about it now either.

Take one game at a time. Focus on hitting, pitching and fielding...one game at a time. We can't be looking beyond the next game. With a key injuries to Miera and Burnam and back-up Hileman...it is even more important for all of the players to be on the same page and getting the machine firing all of it's pistons with equal power. We have the ability. We have found ways to win. We have remained even-tempered. We just have to want to win bad enough.

For Pete's sake stop the panic !! At the beginning of the year we couldn't pitch now we can't hit. It does not matter, we find ways to win. When you win 36 games it's not always because everything is clicking at the same time. Sometimes you hit, sometimes you pitch, sometimes you get lucky. As long as everyone does their part, play hard, stay focused, play fundamental ball, and most of all stay positive, that is all you can ask from a team.
A hearty A-MEN TO Bluepower.

I think the team will be just fine. They seem to be finding ways to win and good teams do that. The pitching has been stellar and as long as that continues, this team will have a chance to win. Pitching is the key here. If we can't pitch it doesn't how many we score as long as we keep giving up runs.

Does anyone follow Warren Nolan and his RPI projections? I saw them for the first time on Shockernet today and was dumb founded when I read the Trees projected RPI. He also predicts that ISUb needs to go 7-1 over the final 2 weeks to make the NCAA's. I don't agree at all but I am wondering was the early schedule that weak? With the record you have that seems ludicrous to me that the trees aren't a lock by now.

Edit: I was looking at this site not Warren Nolan sorry. http://www.boydsworld.com/baseball/rpi/rpineeds.html
