The All-MVC Level
Sunday -- watching the UNI vs WSU game (Great game & crowd -- would be nice to see that on Tuesday in HC) recorded on DVR ....
The TV folks seem to love repeating and repeating that this the first game in 30 years in the MVC between two ranked teams ---- WHY ?
Most importantly, why would the MVC want this to be played up for all the nation to hear ? Seems like a negative comment to me about the MVC --- if I were the MVC the less said about this, the better. The Big 10 (and other major conferences) probably has several games a year between ranked teams -- why advertise how seldom this happens in the MVC ? I'd think the MVC would have some control over this continued mentioning.
I remember some type of exhibition, all-star, Pacer or Celtic game at Hulman Center many years ago and the TV announcers commenting repeatedly that it was the first sellout in history and how they could not believe there were no sellouts during the Bird era (which was pure bullshit by they way -- their were actually several). That incorrect info was supplied by ISU ............WHY ? Why would any school or conference want TV people giving out what is obviously negative info (True or not) ?
By the way for those who thought the ISU -- Bradley game would be a runaway since Bradley was a poor team and was without several of their "poor" starting players ..............never forget the role of motivation, focus, and opportunity on sporting events. Talent plays a major role, but its often overrated in this type of game. Bench players with a chance to start, an "us against the world" mentality, and playing loose -- you often get this happening.
If you saw the UNI players and their focus and intensity vs WSU on Saturday ---- they would have given anyone in the nation -- anyone a battle. They are talented, but not Kentucky talent -- but they would have given the Wildcats all they wanted on Saturday.
