Sycamore Proud

The Nicks Level
I was skimming the Next Three listing in today's Indianapolis Star and noticed how many Indiana teams were opening their seasons:
Bryant visits eye ewe
Bucknell goes to Purdue
Purple Aces go the ND
Ball State hosts Grambling
Elon visits Butler
Utah Valley goes to IUPUI.
Indiana State goes to UCLA.
Some Indiana teams have balls and some teams don't. For those Indiana teams without balls, I suggest you visit the sporting goods department at WalMart and put some in layaway. Maybe those teams can get balls by their conference season. I really feel bad for teams like Crean's; it's got to be tough playing D1 hoops with no balls.

I am thinking that we likely would have done the same thing (easier home opener) had we not been offered the UCLA game, with some special circumstances that come with the matchup, don't you think?

Right you are. I was just trying to poke fun at the non-con schedules some of these teams (like IU) play. Another of my feeble attempts at humor that no one else finds humorous.

dont forget to mention IU only has to travel twice in the first 12 games. they dont play a true road game until dec 31

That's pathetic
If ISU sold 18,000 game tickets -- most of them at $41 apiece (in addition to a minimum Varsity Club contribution of $800) -- then the Sycamores would be playing ten home games in the first 12 games. Actually, seats for the games against Indiana Wesleyan and Bryant cost only $33 apiece.

They have to make up football revenue somehow. If IU made more money from traveling to games, they would no doubt play more road games in the early part of the season.
