You need to use some vision with this 2012 post prospect, but Calhoun has some tools to work with. He is knocking on the door of 6-foot-8, and has long arms. Right now Calhoun has three things really working for him. He has incredible hands, good footwork, and the natural ability to block shots. Most impressive are his hands. Both on rebounds and passes, Calhoun absolutely snags the ball and never lets it go. There aren't many big men his age with a better set of mitts. Calhoun however really needs to keep progressing and focus on being able to finish inside, where he missed a lot of easy shots, and also gain that killer instinct that will allow him to be able to take advantage of his size.
From an older Rivals article.

Kid had a big time half in the Indyball final today. He had some STRONG post moves and dominated IU commit Hanner Perea and 7 footer Obij Aget. If this kid knocks off some baby fat, he is going to be a player. Wouldn't mind ISU looking into him.

Class of 2012 star Brent Calhoun of Warren Central is now back on the board and will not be attending the University of Detroit.

Calhoun, a 6'8 power forward, had signed with the Horizon League school last November.

Calhoun competed on the travel team circuit with the Eric Gordon All-Stars.

Strange.............really strange. Signed in fall and NO CONTACT from coaches since that time?

Yeah, I read that, too. Sounds like they used his academics as a way to force him out so they could sign a "better" player. I really liked this kid when I saw him play last Summer. I'd imagine he'll end up JUCO at this point since most schools have nothing left for 2012 kids.
