Holy cow! That is a pretty big get for us. Not to put undue pressure on the young man but he has to be one of the highest rated recruits we have ever had.

Welcome aboard Zack.

how much eligibility left? Welcome!

Should be 2 years.

2012: Redshirted at Cal
2013: Played in 6 games. 43-of-82 passes (52.4%) for 443 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions for a 100.14 quarterback rating while rushing 13 times for 14 yards.
2014: Transfered to Oregon State but decided he didn't want to sit so he went to Butte CC. Was 145 of 237 (61.2%) for 1708 yards with 13 TDs and 6 INTs. Also had 73 rushes for 208 yards and 3 TDs.

You can see his Butte highlights in the HUDL link above. Here is a video of him out of HS:

we've had Fouch and Perish, who did very well for us, hopefully this QB can follow in their footsteps. I'm sure it'll be a good battle for the QB spot next year.

in the HS highlights looks like he can run pretty well, something our recent QB's have unfortunately lacked recently, hopefully he still runs as well as he did in HS.

Zach can play... I have watched a 15+ minute highlight on him. Has a strong arm - can sling it on the run and in the grasp - ability to stand in pocket and be accurate up to last second - good feet, nimble, can run similar to RB - can go very long with accuracy. He promotes his Christian belief. His teams win. He has a bit of height to see over line. Michigan wanted him out of HS but he chose Cal close to home. Transferred to Oregon State and quickly left to attend a school where he would get immediate minutes. I mean holy cow - the kid can play!

I'm very excited to see how Zach pans out. We all know that transfers can be hit and miss, particularly ones who come in with the pedigree of Zach. Calvin Schmidtke anyone? Of course, Zach doesn't seem to have any of the off field issues some of the others have had. I'm excited!!!

Calvin was considered a 2-star kid by Rivals so Kline's HS evaluation dwarfs his. Just for the sake of comparison, here are links to the Rivals profiles for the last couple of big FCS QB transfers we've had:

Calvin Schmidtke (2*, #22 WA, 5.3 RR) - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Calvin-Schmidtke-54529
Ronnie Fouch (3*, #21 PS-QB, #72 CA, 5.6 RR) - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Ronnie-Fouch-44850
Mike Perish (3*, 5.5 RR) - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Mike-Perish-89925
Zack Kline (4*, #2 PS-QB, #7 CA, #44 National, 6.0 RR) - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Zach-Kline-101131

I'd be pretty happy with a QB who could top Fouch and Perish. That is NOT going to be easy to do. Having a QB that could do that would be a real coup for us.
