So I must admit that I don't keep up with all of the sports as well as I should. I was checking out the MVC website today and trying to get a feel for how our teams did in '08. From what I can see it doesn't look very good. As for team sports it looks like tennis is the only area where we were above .500 and the women were dominate. Any others? Looks like it was a pretty rough year for ISU as a whole.

bent, track and cross country are really the only consistently competitive teams ISU has. Thank GOD for that, the men's cross country team was 2nd at the MVC meet in Nov. and only lost that meet by 3 points, the women had a down year. Track season just started and ISU has pretty dang good teams on both sides and will compete for MVC championships.

Other than that you're right, the rest of the ISU teams were horrible in 2008, let's end it now and move to 2009. I hope to God it's not worse than 2008 was.

I've read where the cross country and track teams are good, too. It was just hard to get an idea of how much they've accomplished because you don't have team standings like you do the other sports. It's nice to know we have some athletic teams to be proud of. I keep hearing that they're turning things around at ISU and I know it's still the beginning for some sports, but man, I hope it doesn't get worse than 2008.

I know people shoot down this argument all of the time, but if it's true that we can't compete financially with the other teams in the MVC then what are we doing there? We're at the bottom in too many sports.
