Things that make you go, "Hmmm..." Although I did notice that there are only 10 games on that schedule, so that should leave room to add a couple of games. Maybe this was put out there before we inked Quincy to the game?

is Saturday, August 29th the opening weekend for college FB in 2009 then?

ISU has no game that weekend or Oct. 10th I think.

I'm assuming that doesn't show every game. We still better be playing the Div. 2 team and we better win. When you're talking about the longest losing streak in the nation people don't care who it is against. They also don't care if you snap it against a push over opponent. If that game is still up in the air, let's schedule the easiest opponent we can find. No, I'm not ashamed to do that. Let's end the streak and build our confidence. That's what the top Div. 1A teams do every year.

remember st. francis

i remember isu scheduling st. francis college a couple of years back when lou west was the head coach. the sycamores lost that game. so just because the opponent may not be i-aa, they can still bite you if you arent ready to play. trent will have his team ready to go, but lets not get ahead of ourselves just yet. lol

The first allowable contest date for 2009 according to the NCAA Manual is September 3 for Division I - so I don't see how we can open the season with anything other than the September 5 game at Louisville.
If we had a D2 game scheduled prior to Sep. 3 - it would be a violation.

I remember that game, I was sitting in an Applebee's and saw that score on ESPN and thought to myself, OMG ISU FB has hit a new all-time low.

St. Fancis was the defending NAIA National Champion that year. That was a terribly scheduled game.

The NAIA National Champion would be a lot of IAA teams every year.

i remember....

back in the mid-1980s when isu had really strong teams. we played a home game with wayne state. it was a lot closer game until vencie glenn intercepted a pass near the isu goal line and returned it something like 90 yards for a touchdown. isu went on to break the game open. but it was still closer than what many people thought it would be.
