UCLA is rumored to be wanting to make a push for Matt Painter. Besides $$ I see no reason Painter would leave Purdue for UCLA.

Niagara has parted ways with Chris Casey, source told @stadium. That’s three guys let go already today and it’s 11 a.m.

Luke Walton is reportedly a key in this years coaching carousel. If fired from the Lakers as expected he would be top on list at UCLA and possibly Arizona if it becomes open.

So he can actually win?

He's a good coach but outmatched multiple times over by most of the conference. UCLA is still the crown jewel of the Pac 12 in what hoops means to the school -- it's a basketball school with a football problem. The next coach that brings that place back to a perennial Top 10 natty title contender is likely going to have a statue next to Wooden.

Right. 2 Big Ten championships in 3 years. 4 2nd's and 3 1st's in 14 years. So he's been in top 2 for half of his 14 years in the conference.

Seems like he's had some better talent than keady but it doesn't appear that they are most kids first (or second) pick

Yeah, and how many Elite Eights? Final Fours? And when you think of the premier coach of the Big Ten, you think Painter over Izzo, right? Purdue is rarely in the Top 10 of Midwest talent choices. He is overshadowed, unfairly or not.

Fact of the matter is when UCLA is rolling, it is the premier program on the West Coast that kids want to play at because of the location, tradition, etc. Matt Painter would have that program rolling and would be the class of the Pac12. I think he'd be in his first E8 or maybe even the F4 within a couple years because he'd get a top seed out West -- and that matters.

And if he goes to three Final Fours in a row but doesn’t win one, he’ll find himself on a scorching hot seat!!!

UCLA let him go because of the allegations surrounding the program, no?

We can't cry about the lack of ethics and morals and holding winning above everything in college sports and then speak out the other side of our mouth when the AD holds the coach accountable for it. I'd also bet that Howland wouldn't have been let go if the off-the-court stuff didn't center around drug and alcohol abuse and the crazy hazing.

You may be right, I don’t remember. But I do know that UCLA is not a comfortable place to coach if you can’t win 10 championships in 12 years! Only a true masochist would take that job.
