All day long the local media was swooning on Hodgson and they end up with Pastner? Woooof. Well, at least he will likely recruit well.

UNLV is broke. Their fans on Reddit say that Hodgson saw the NIL package they had for him to work with and declined their offer. All day long the local media was swooning on Hodgson and they end up with Pastner? Woooof. Well, at least he will likely recruit well.
You mean Charleston? That's where Chris Mack is at now.Rumors of Mack bolting FAU back to Xavier today apparently.

South Florida has some serious money they're pumping into athletics (hiring Hannahs for baseball, paying Alabama for a football home & home, etc.).

Interesting. People I know locally say they've got a chest... it's just not as big compared to some others in conference. I know they were trying to get some casino money as well.
"Mullen is due to make $17.5 million over the life of the contract for an average annual value of $3.5 million per year. UNLV's athletic department is at least $26 million in debt.
Per Akers, the Rebels hope "to raise money through donations and increased revenue from football games"—and will seek to increase ticket prices to that end."

UNLV AD Says School Unable to Pay for Final Three Seasons of Dan Mullen's Contract
Befitting the spirit of their city, the Rebels will need cash to cover their gamble.www.si.com
UNILV is pretty good, props for that.Yeah, that is the athletic department. Their collective, UNILV, is pretty decent from what I've been told. I know they have some decent corporate sponsors.

I still think asking people/companies to donate money to basically pay your athletes salaries (with nothing keeping them here after one season) is a bad look for a school $26 million in debt.
But they're certainly not beholden to my advice. UNLV has only gone from the cusp of being a blue blood to making one S16 in my lifetime, their biggest football story in a season they finished runner up in conference was not paying their QB, and in a market where NFL/MLB/NHL/NBA are all tripping over themselves to get into Vegas, the new Pac12 picked Fresno State over UNLV. Clearly things are going fine for them lol
Gotta stop at the Peppermint Hippo to see any UNLV co-edsYou aren't wrong on any of that. I will say Vegas is corporate sponsorship heaven so I don't fault them. Hell, a couple of the local private high schools have multiple big corporate sponsors for their sports. This town has gone absolutely sports crazy since I've been here.
What's interesting about UNLV is despite having a 30k+ enrollment, I've never seen anyone on that campus. It's literally a ghost town every time I'm over there especially in the evening.
Holy shit were all of the analysts off on multiple jobs today. All the rumors turned out bunk.
Now Pitino to Xavier, Danny Manning to Villanova (I don't understand this one at all) and Martelli Jr to VCU.
Danny Manning?????Is Villanova trying to disappear from the blue bloods of college basketball?
Jay Wright took them to the mountain top and now it seems like their goal is to get as far from it as possible.
Sure! Why not -- he'll bring Larry Brown along as a VERY geriatric ass'tDanny Manning?????
