Unless my math is wrong, Belmont is also eliminated from the conference tournament as of today. Even if they sweep us, they would be on the losing end of tiebreakers with Illinois State, Evansville, and Southern Illinois

UIC tried to their best to be annoying…again….. but glad the birds could pull it out.

If nothing else it’s been an “entertaining” conference race.

Coming down the home stretch, if you look closely Sycamores have a nose on UIC with Murray a stride a behind. Sweep the Bruins and we have nothing to worry about

Very nice to control our destiny. But with UIC playing Bradley, I fear we will need the elusive sweep to nab the #1 seed

Sure would be something to go undefeated in conference series but not get the 1 because we couldn’t manage a sweep

We do hold the tie breaker over Murray and UIC. So we do have a slight advantage to be the #1 seed over them. As you said, it would be wild to win every conference series but not get the 1 seed due to not being able to sweep.

UIC has lost majority of its non-cons games to really bad teams. I’m hoping their good luck runs out and Bradley treats them like their non-con schedule.

Also makes me feel a little better we are home. Hopefully the athletic department pumps up this series with Belmont and we get nice crowds all weekend

Really. Midweek games define how deep your pitching staff is and how it is developing as the season progresses. They serve as ideal tests for your lineup, assuming the starters are playing to stay sharp. It is embarrassing to get shut down by a midweek opponent from a lower ranked league. Just as a matter of pride and practicing technique, our lineup should go out to score 10+ in every game like this. If you really don't care, then call in sick and let someone who does be on the field.

Aaron Moss goes three strong innings and leaves leading 4-1. Walks have been his issue with 15 in less than 8 innings entering tonight. Definitely lowered his ERA tonight.

Freshman Trevor Fenters, sporting a 9+ ERA but 11 K's and only 2 walks in 12 innings, throws a scoreless fourth with 2 K's.

Trees respond with 4 in bottom of seventh and still batting. With the bases loaded, Garcia singles in a run, Roell missed a grand slam by about five feet to get an RBI on a sac fly. Beck walked to reload the gases, then Estrella ripped a two run single.

ISU leads 11-5 after 7. Hunter Small takes the hill to start the 8th
