I went to the 2024 Recruiting list. We have 42 players listed as offered and committed elsewhere plus many who are listed but it does not indicate an offer was extended. I guess those guys are a 'checked swing' in baseball parlance.

In any event, it does appear that 90% of those offered will end up committing somewhere else. This happens every year.

The key is not that we missed on those guys but that the coaches are properly evaluating talent to fit the system and play at a high level such that each of the offered players, should he choose to accept the ISU offer, is a proper fit for quality & style of play, culture, and his teammates.

I am not saying our staff is doing anything wrong....and I love the caliber of player we are going after. Just disappointing to keep seeing "committed elsewhere" next to all these guys. I know we will only take a handful of all these recruits and "90% will end up committing somewhere else." I was hopeful last years success would help sell the program to some of them, since the system will be the same. But it seems a lot of guys assume since the head coach left, so did any reason for them to commit. Maybe it's simply we can't pay enough, therefore we won't attract most of the top talent....who knows. I feel bad for the staff having to try and rebuild in today's money hungry college landscape, while doing from a financial desert.
