Just how bad is Mallory as a head coach?

3-19, that's his embarrassing record since signing his extension through 2027. 1-10 this year and 2-9 last year. His only wins - two against WIU (a team that wasn't remotely competitive this year and is 0-22 over the past two seasons) and an OT win against Northern Alabama (4-18 the past two seasons) - so awful non-conference teams, at least going forward. His overall record is 20-47 with just one winning season in six played. Five of those six seasons he's finished 7th or worse.

No point to share beyond that. Not even a negative post, just pointing out how pitifully bad our coach is and by extension our abysmal football program.

He doesn’t have the answers. See if he makes any moves to fire his OC? He will probably leave, but Mallory will not fire him. This is a disaster. Hope Clink is not burying his head in the sand, and will start a dialogue to get him to resign and take a cut from his contract.

He also has the "distinction" of fielding teams that have won "0" games (2017), "1" game (2023) and "2" games (2022), NO OTHER ISU football coach can claim that "honor," granted in his three seasons, Lou West won 1 game, while losing 32... I also don't recall West chirping about "his teams winning 5 (or more games) in three consecutive years since the Miles and Raetz eras... ( from a post 2021 season interview... )

In the past 101 seasons (1923-2023), there have been 7 "0-win" seasons, 10 "1-win" seasons and 10 "2-win" seasons; ergo, this season isn't exactly a shock to long-time watchers of the program

Under zero circumstances am I resigning and giving back money if I'm Mallory.

An interesting point to consider, following the WIU coach's firing. We could very well go 0-22 ourselves the next two seasons. The two most winnable games next season are Houston Christin (who?) and Murray State at home, but I wouldn't dare count either as a win in advance. And we'd still have two years left of Mallory's absurd contract.

It's why only three or four people were posting after our lone win and why the "good years" a decade ago didn't create sustained fan interest. A century's worth of suck isn't going to be overcome with Trent Miles fielding three consecutive winning seasons of 6-5, 6-5 and 7-4 and a playoff appearance and win by Sanford in his one good season. It's very much fair at this point to be calling on the university to just give up on football because it already did a long, long time ago.

We should be able to beat Dayton next season too. It's not listed on ISU's site for some reason yet, but we are playing them. It's listed on the site "FBS Schedules".

I agree - if the Tree fans, alumni who "need" football in make their lives "whole," did NOT step up their support during the Miles era and Sanford's "great season," it's never going to happen.

a legit Bot, Univ Pres and ALUMNI base would recognize that the NCAA football landscape has changed and the decision should be made to retire the program.

It's Houston Christian... private school in Houston, Tx -- been playing FCS ball for a decade; 5-5 this season, so I'm not marking them as a definite win for next season

They have 2 alumni in the NFL today
