40 Year Reunion of 72' Sycamores

The 1972 Sycamores and the SAF are planning a 40 year reunion for the team to take place during Homecoming this year. The 72’ Sycamores finished the season at 7-3. Members of the team should expect a formal invite in the next couple of weeks. John Barro will be hosting a Friday night social at his place in East Terre Haute. There will be game day activities and special events for the team, coaches, trainers, managers, cheerleaders. Coach Miles and the Sycamores have done a tremendous job reviving the program and events like this can only add to the rebuilding of a successful Football Program.


Another special event during Homecoming 2012 will be the recognition of Coach Jerry Huntsman by naming the Coaches Locker Room in his honor. Coach Huntsman career record at ISU was 43-24-1. We want to encourage all of Huntsman former players to return for this event. It was during that era that ISU went from the Indiana College Conference to the type of schedule and competition that the Sycamores currently compete in today.

I sent this to an ol' Theta Chi bros. down in SW IN that played LB on that squad. I recall Barro...didn't know he was still in TH. He was originally recruited as a QB in '69 then converted to LB. Used to see him at our numerous keggers, sampling the product. Good all-around athlete.

Good to see that the ISU Sparkettes & Cheerleaders are also invited...they were a major part of the successful "Spirit" that reigned then.

Our only losses that season:

1st Game (@ home/ 10-7 Cincy Bearcats)
4th Game (@ C. Mich/34-0)
5th Game (21-10 Ball State)

We closed on a roll! Wonder...when will 2-time All-American MLB JOHN "Hawk" KARASZIA be placed in the ISU Athletic HOF? I was told by a "voting member" a few yrs. ago, that Dennis Raetz & a few others didn't view pre-80's ISU Football as an "equal," thus the bias. Hope this perception is changing under Coach Miles - time for unification, boyz.
