- My best friend @ Castle HS (3 yr. starting G) and I went to Roberts stadium to see most of these matchups, where no less than 8k were present to see each game. Of course, this was on the heel of Evansville College's great era w/ Jerry Sloan & Larry Humes, where they went undefeated in '64-65.

Yes, the photo shows TH Garfield's 6'7" PAUL SIEBENMORGAN (Union Hospital Cancer Center named after his father) and 5'9" MIKE TURNER, both who ultimately played for ISU and were members of the '70 squad that BEAT Ford & Purdue in W. Lafayette.

My Dad '46 Garfield grad and I were at this game sitting in the end where Ford hit that lucky shot. Talk about disappointment.

That's where I was seated w/ the Garfield crew, many of which I went to Otter Creek JHS (Elem-7th grade) with ...my cuzz (Lowell Touchton) was on that squad and his parents came over to Newburgh to visit after the game...not a joyful reunion! I'm forwarding this over to LARRY GALLAGHER's FB page to give him a headache!

Note: Never could understand why Don McDonald never used his "vaunted" f/c press against North. NONE of North's front court players were great ball handlers (Ford, Jessp & Hilderbrand), and their back court (Steve Holland & Preston Smith) were "good" but vulnerable.

I was at the game in West Lafayette, I believe it was the first time we had beaten Purdue. I was in the press box representing the Sycamore Yearbook staff and had to control my excitement. Most of the ISU fans were at the top of the arena, all spread out, but were very loud.
