The Renn Level
Let me start off by admitting that I have been to less than a hand full of baseball games during my storied history as a Sycamore fan. I probably witnessed more gymnastics and wrestling meets than baseball games.
Now to my point. Why does the music coming from the PA have to be so loud? I know this sounds like my parents complaining, but 7 hours of the same 10 or so songs played too loud can become quite tiresome. I don't care whether the fans who chose to stand along the fence can hear the music or not. I would imagine the folks touring our beautiful city via 3rd street with their windows up would have no trouble hearing it. Would someone with a bit of inside information please inform me. I would love to attend more games in our new stadium, but may decide not to if this is the norm.

I do wish the players had more than one intro song, but those are common place now, even in major league stadiums. I do like the music in between innings and during pitching changes......I even like the intro songs, just wish they had more than one for each player.

i'll tell you one thing...the music they play now.....

is muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better than what we were allowed to play back in the bob warn days....and even then...we had old people complaining that the music was too darn loud...lol....we had older ladies hollering up at us in the press box to turn to music down....lol...we had to tell them...the coach and the players want up loud.....so there...and dont sit so damned close to the speakers...lol......

Thanks Tom. I doubt there is anyone on the forum more informed than you. I do think that if fans have been complaining for that many years, then maybe whoever makes the calls should get a clue and quit making fans mad. Heck we might as well be at Hulman center with that attitude.

One more thing. I'm not complaining about them playing music. It is just way too loud. You can't get away from the speakers and remain in the stands. If I'm going to pay to watch, I'm also going to sit.

Well, Sycamore baseball is run poorly in a fan's perspective.

The promotions they have are pretty bad. What like 3 promotions the whole game? (Dress like a Sycamore, Commons Cash with the Dice, and Home Run inning) With all the different types of businesses out there they should be doing a promotion each inning.

Why no merchandise selling? Don't they sell them at football and basketball games?

Music..Don't even get me started. Whoever runs it, needs to sit down and go to www.google.com and type in good songs to play at a baseball game. They have some good songs but then they have some bad songs. It's really not that hard to find songs to play.

Usher Nazi's are at it again.. This time at Bob Warn Field. I've witnessed students try to sit in the chairback seating behind homeplate and along the sides, and Adolf Jr. comes up and makes them leave. And literally there are usually 4 ppl who sit on the side. I understand behind the plate but on the sides is ridiculous.

I like the new stadium, dont get me wrong. I do wish that the concession stand faced north instead of south and why didn't they put in a "gift" shop with merchandise in it?

Also, I agree with the usher nazi comment. I think they are worse at the baseball games! Nobody sat in the chairbacks on the sides but no one was allowed to move there. Ridiculous.

i was told by coach warn.....

to play the music loud enough for the players to hear it in the dugout.....if i were to dial it down a notch or two....and we're talking about some pretty soft rock stuff here back then.....i would get a call on the dugout to press box phone...and stay...turn the music up...we can't hear it!!!!!......so i would....lol.....and if anybody complained, i would just say...coach's orders...lol.....take it up with him....lol.....and bob would listen to their complaints....and that would be that...no changes....lol....

Is the same "jocko" that is in charge of the music at the Hulman Center going to be allowed to ruin this venue too? Part of the attendance problem at the HC (only part) is the extremely loud canned music and oh yeah, the usher nazis compound the problem. When sell-outs are the norm for both basketball and baseball, that is the time to enforce seating issues. Most of us older folks hear better than you all think!

I have yet to been able to attend a game at the new stadium so i cant really comment on whats going on . However I sense a trend here, I have to ask is it the administration who is making it non user friendly ? Ladies and gents its nice to have nice facilities but if its not uiser friendly who the hell is going to come ?

I heard that ISU is trying to cut maintenance costs, and by keeping fans out of those chairbacks behind home plate, they're not required to sweep up all those shelled peanut casings!:jawdrop:

They said those chairbacks behind home plate, were for season ticket holders only. The only chairback seats that you and I can sit in are the ones in front of the press box. Those are $10 a piece, or you can pay $4 for a bleacher seat, and get the same exact view. They need to get the scoreboard speakers working again, instead of using the portable speakers on top of the press box, which makes our new stadium look cheap.

First of all, if you don't like loud music, don't sit by the speakers. The music is for the players to hear - if it's too loud, sit futher away, it's not that difficult. If you actually want to decide whether or not you go to a baseball game based on how loud the music is, that's your problem.

Second of all, the ushers job is to make sure people are sitting where they should be sitting. If the athletic department wants to make money to better facilities, how are they supposed to do that if people buy $5 tickets and go sit in the chairback seats that are $10 (thereby losing $5 a person)? Different seats have better views and are more comfortable which is why they cost more - now that the ushers are doing their jobs, I can tell you first hand that people are going to actually spend $10 for a chairback seat because they know they will not be allowed to sit there if they buy a $5 general admission ticket.

Third, each player only wants ONE batting song - that's how it is at colleges nationwide and even in the MLB. Players are known for that one song. So that will never change.

One more thing - the speakers on the scoreboard sounded awful - you could barely hear the music and it was muffled. Fans have been very pleased with the speakers on top of the stadium, to the point where they have come up to the press box and complimented the idea. There may be a few fans here and there that do not like it because they sit too close to them or it makes the stadium "look cheap," but the athletic department is going to listen to the majority rather than the minority.

They will like the speakers on top of the press box, until a big gust of wind knocks them down into the crowd, and they injure a couple of people. Then nobody would like that.

LOL - they are stable. They know how to do their jobs and are aware of risk management issues. Those speakers, in case you weren't aware, weigh enough that it would take a very big gust of wind to blow them over. And if it were to be windy day, or even a rainy day, the speakers would be put inside the press box, out the window like the first couple of games.

The stadium is still a work in progress - everything isn't perfect. Give some time.

I agree with that, that is on the way. Remember, I'm sure most things need to be replaced, but money doesn't grow on trees.

Agree with the first part.

Second part, I understand but I think the students should get 2-3 rows of the chairbacks. They are the ones who technically paid for it. Their aren't many students who are going to sit on the hard bleachers for 6 hours of baseball. Hell, their isn't to many non-students who are going to sit on those things for 6 hours. I just get tired of how the students get treated at this university.

As for the third part, if that's what the players want then so be it. It does get monotnous to hear the same thing over and over for 6 hours.

If the music is for the players to hear put the damned speakers in the dugouts facing the field. No one in the stands will care I'm sure.
