I think that some of you have a different perspective on promoting the program than I do. Sure, the SID is responsible for schedule posters, billboards etc.. when I suggest that the head coach needs to promote the program, I mean he has to take every opportunity to speak to every alumni group, campus organization, rotary club, Kiwanis club, chamber of commerce, virtually any organization throughout the state that will let him. Promote the value of ISU football in developing young men into men of character as well as good football players. Convince people in these organizations that because of the values that the program operates under that they are worthy of people’s support. Invite them to come to the games and see for themselves. He should have a template of a talk/presentation that he could give at the drop of a hat. Public speaking not a strength? Join toast masters and learn, certainly there is someone on campus that could develop those skills. Never pass up an opportunity to tell people all the good things going on in ISU football. Maybe he does, however I’ve never heard of him doing this. It will work, not over night, but it will work.

Preseason polls don't mean jack. Arizona State was picked dead last in the Big 12 last year and ended up winning the conference. There's a reason we play the games.

Yeah I was certainly playing out best case scenarios. Go ahead and elucidate us with your knowledge and clairvoyance and we'll bump this at the end of the season. My realistic, rational assessment is W/L line at 4.5 and take the over. McK, EIU, Y, and Murray and hope to steal one somewhere. You?

With the coaching, the Spring game is basically a top secret and the info they promise to give on a start time / date is never provided besides on Twitter/X. That's great if you use Twitter/X (I don't), but why isn't that info provided on the actual ISU FB website? Heck, why not have a sign out on Wabash by the Stadium with start times for ISU FB events like the baseball team has out by 3rd St?

Can't recall the last time I met someone in TH who thinks ISU is Div II,
I HAVE met people who still believe ISU should BE a Div II school, that they screwed themselves by moving TO Div I...

how much larger is the Buff program? how many kids do they have just to carry headsets and coil headset wires?

likely more than the entire ISU football staff
 
Hey guys ---- thank you. My intention was to get some info on the upcoming season and it got a great response. The debate over football will likely never end, but as long as ISU has a football team I hope to have at least some idea about what's going on with it. Hoping to get to a game or two.

Watching practice film on FB, looks like our defense is going to look better. Owens seems to be throwing a lot of picks throwing down field. They are practicing a lot on dink and dunk short yardage plays.
