bassett will be working out for the pacers.....wednesday....

along with three other players.....Tweety Carter (Baylor), Willie Warren (Oklahoma) and Nic Wise (Arizona).....

Doubt the Pacers will draft him. And I highly doubt he'll be anything near what Artest was/is. Just because a player works out with a team doesn't mean he'll get drafted by said team.

Ummmm most players workout for alot of teams...Word to the wise...Warren and Carter are the players the pacers are actually interested in...

Armon Bassett couldn't hold Ron Artest's jock strap and never will be able to.

Yeah people forget Artest is actually kind of soft to be honest lol...he's the most flagrant flopper in NBA history...Rajon Rondo put a hand on him the other night and he went flying into the 8th row like it was detroit lol...

If Bassett can be the next Ron Artest, be that good and last as long in the NBA, he'll be incredibly fortunate. I get the comparison you were going for Landrus, but to be the next Ron Artest wouldn't be a bad thing. As crazy as Artest is, he's a great player.

Can I throw an idea or opinion out real quick that's a little insane????
So...alot of people say that these two teams really arent that good...I disagree...that Lakers team has 5 players who would be first or second options on every other team in the NBA including the Celtics lol....I think the sensationalizing of past athletes is really hurting the legacies of current ones...

They're good teams, but I don't like the players on them that much. I actually don't mind Kobe (I know a lot of people can't stand him and I understand why, but I think he's more mature now and not nearly as irritating as he was as a kid) and Garnett and Allen are likeable enough, although Garnett is a bit odd at times. Pierce I can't stand. Gasol is a bit overrated. It goes on from there. Artest I don't mind even though he is largely to blame him for what happened to the pacers, along with Jackson, who was the worst acquisition in Pacers' history and far more of a thug than Artest. Artest was just nutty.

Ultimately, I get tired of this Celtics vs Lakers stuff. It's good for the NBA in some respects, but it bores me. I haven't even been watching the finals that much.

I am not talking about likeability really I am talking about ability...these two teams are loaded....Gasol when allowed to play his game is the best big man in all of basketball....

Gasol is a bit overrated.QUOTE]

How is Pau Gasol overrated? He can pass, shoot from the outside (15-18 feet), finish with either hand better than any big guy in the game, rebound, pretty good defender, and can block a few shots. He does play soft sometimes but I don't see how he is overrated.

I don't see how someone could honestly think that either the Lakers or Celtics aren't any good.

I'm not saying Gasol isn't good. He's just overrated. He's not the premier big man in the game. I can think of at least a half dozen others that are better. Before going to the Lakers he had six strong, but not superstar seasons with the Grizzlies (one all-star game). I think one can easily argue that he's not nearly so great on another team. A number one? Sure, probably, he was in Memphis, but he wasn't good enough to make them a good team.

first on the artest thing....as of late....he has looked pretty damn soft....he is flopping consistently getting driven on by Paul Pierce...looking like a fool on the offensive end...the triangle isnt hard to run in especially if you can hit a jumper and Ron Ron you can do that...

I would love to hear your list of a half dozen big men in the league that are better than Gasol right now. He was the best player on a 50, 45, & 49 win team. He lead the MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES to three straight playoff apperances. Those are the only three playoff apperances in franchise history.
