Mass e-mail that just went out from Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce... It's funny to me that Indiana State didn't realize how much the community was behind them. I have no idea how you can be so out of touch. I will never let anyone on this forum trash the city of Terre Haute and the lack of community support ever again. Blame Indiana State. Blame whoever you want. Don't blame Terre Haute.
As you've undoubtedly heard over the past few days, Sycamore Baseball is headed to its first Super Regional appearance in the school's history, an amazing accomplishment for the program, its players and coaches and the many fans who have supported them throughout the season.
Unfortunately, these Super Regional games will not be hosted in Terre Haute.
While this decision has left many willing community supporters and leaders upset, we are encouraging every business in Terre Haute and Vigo County to rally behind our team, no matter how far away they might be playing. Despite the distance, we can still show up as the home team and share our support via social media. Although it is not the same as having the opportunity for the community to be physically present, it is still important we take every opportunity still available to rally for the team.
Here's what you can do:
• Attend the team send-off at the Terre Haute Airport, today at 2:30pm
• Host a watch party at your restaurant or bar
• Add "We Support Sycamore Baseball" to your marquee
• Post photos using the following hashtags: #SupportSycamoreBaseball #RootForTheHomeTeam
The dates/times for the Fort Worth Super Regional are as follows:
• Friday - 5 p.m. EST - Televised on ESPNU
• Saturday - 6 p.m. EST - Televised on ESPNU
• If a third game is necessary, the series will continue on Sunday, time TBD
Also, please don't forget to honor a wonderful group of athletes and their families who will be calling Terre Haute home this weekend, the 53rd Annual Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games. Over 3,000 athletes from across the state will come together on the campuses of Indiana State and Rose-Hulman for three days of competition and achievement, friendship and fun, ceremony and celebration. More information about the Special Olympics is available here.
