saw creighton won today to go to the mvc title game and saw people getting upsets on here about the sycs going 0-2 in the tourney. got me thinking would you rather have the bluejays season or isu's season?

creighton has to win one game to go to the big dance while isu sweats out monday's annoucnements

i would rather have our season. we had fun all season (aside from one week) watching the sycamores win the mvc championship. while it would be awesome to get into the tournament, i believe we have laid a better foundation for years to come. having a 40 win season is something to be proud of and something that people, students, and recruits notice. this year proved we are one of the best in the state and in the conference, winning a couple of games in missouri wouldn't have proven that. regardless of what happens, i'm proud of the Sycamores.

Absolutely! A conference championship! Is there a question?

IF the bluejays go to the NCAA tourney and we don't...then I'd rather have their season. If they don't win the MVC tourney, then I'd rather have our season.

Kinda like the Men's basketball 2011 season.....would you rather be the Sycamores and win the MVC tourney and go to the Dance....or would you rather be the Missouri State Bears and win the regular season championship and then play in the NIT. I choose the Sycamores and the Dance.

I think the players would rather have Creightnon's season if they make it to the tournament. How many times do we see the "Road to Omaha" on shirts, banners, etc. It's all about going to Omaha, not Springfield.

I completely disagree. I think the whole season should be all about winning the conference.
It's sad the conference championships don't mean anything anymore. Everybody just wants a moment of glory instead of winning the war.

I agree, 'Backer...

What VALUE is there in winning your conference if the LAST PLACE TEAM gets the NCAA bid? Something ain't right...

Couldn't agree more. Bob Knight had it right when they brought in the Big 10 tournament. He said why in the heck should we play conference games then. What's the point of winning the Big 10 if the last place team could get into the tourney.......

We can all complain about the inequalities of winning the conference regular season title and not winning the post-season tournament. Of course, we didnt feel the same way when the Sycamores men's hoops team did it a couple of years ago. We were all happy that ISU went and Missouri State didnt. But the bottom line is that everybody knew going into the season that the tournament champ is the one who gets the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. That should be the end-all goal.

Very interesting that you guys feel this way. I'd take a 10-win regular season with an MVC tourney championship and NCAA Bid over a Stellar Season but no Bid, every single time.

Excellent point, TJ. I was wondering when someone was going to mention that we did the same thing two seasons ago in hoops. Correct me if I am wrong but I think we were a 3-seed though which makes it less of an upset than what just happened in the baseball tourney. Bottom line however, our #1 seeded baseball team lost to two bottom tier teams and that makes it much harder to swallow. I still have a bad taste in my mouth over those two losses in Springfield, and as i have said, I am not too much of a baseball fan. I was just so proud of this team before all this happened. We'll see if we make it but I say there is no way.

Not all of us agree...if anything, multiple goals should be set pre-season, and a CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP should take precedent. Otherwise, schools should just play a "B Team" until the conference post-season - what kind of farce would that be?
