Help me understand something, but are you guys really "mad" that we are now probably not going to play in a nationally televised game? Like I understand why that would be a good thing for our program, I get that. But what I don't get is you guys constantly looking ahead to that and "you guys" is a generalization that includes Todd Golden.

Who really cares? You see what looking ahead to games has got us and this team so far this season. Maybe if we would have worried about just taking care of business (1 game at a time mantra) we wouldn't have dug our own grave.

I just am tired of hearing about it, we get so caught up in the darn "Bracket Buster" but really all that mattered to this team was the MVC games anyway. The Bracket Buster wasn't going to punch our ticket, not a chance with losses to Wyoming, Eastern Ky and Ball State. So I don't know why the Bracket Buster even matters to anyone on here? All we need to do is play well in the MVC so we can get a decent seed in Arch Maddness and the only thing I keep hearing is "now we won't get a TV game" - G E T O V E R I T!

I understand what you're selling, but I'm not buying. Losing that ESPN Bracketbuster game hurt badly - not only from the standpoint of national exposure, but student and community morale. That could have been a huge home game for us. I'd venture to say a near sell out. Every time there is a big game, local businesses benefit, especially restaurants and bars. A greater feeling of accomplishment would have been felt by everyone and it's the type of progress that can help the program continue to build.

No reason to dwell on it, but I do firmly believe it would have really been beneficial to everyone to get that.

Oh well, we'll have to settle for CBS in the MVC tournament title game and the NCAA tournament. I'm cool with that! :)

It doesn't matter if we play on national tv or not, it would just drive our attendance down even lower.

And another well thought out comment from the youngster. Man, when are you gonna grow up?

You people always say when the game is on TV nobody is in the seats, but when I say it, it's not a well thought out comment. Now that makes sense to me????

My short answer: Yes, I'm mad that we may not play an ESPN televised game.

My answer with reasoning: Yes, you are correct that the MVC season is really what matters right now... BUT ... Bracket Busters is an opportunity to be nationally televised. Any time your program has an opportunity to be shown on national TV you should want to take advantage of it. Increased exposure of your school is good for both academic and athletic reasons...let's face it, some kids base where they go to school on the popularity/familiarity of the athletic teams. ONE appearance on ESPN isn't going to make huge strides for ISU, but everyone starts somewhere. Not to mention, the more Valley teams that are on ESPN and win, the better for the Valley.

I agree with SSOM we really should only concentrate on the Valley games I could give a rats ass if we are on ESPN . Worry about winning Valley games and get real exposure when we play on CBS . As far as local community goes win games they will come been proven . Its about winning games not weather Ballyhoo sells an extra nasty tasting pizza , Or the Terminal sells an extra beer its about winning games and people will come to the games. As well as what Landus was saying he makes sense everyone seems to bitch if WTWO has the game on tv but he makes no sense when he says the same thing about the game being covered and it hurting attendance . Give the kid a break

We are STILL playing the game! Wouldn't you rather it be a national game than some podunk game nobody cares about? Can't you see the benefits? Apparently not. You must have worked for the prior ISU athletics administration.

I think when a game is on ESPN or CBS game of the week or some other nationally recognized game it usually helps with attendance. I think there is a stigma that "it must be a good game if ESPN is televising it". You might get more casual fans in the door that way and a fuller student section.

One game on national TV is better than none. That's pretty simple math.

My point wasn't that it wouldn't be a great thing to get a nationally televised game. However the reason a loss is disappointing for me has nothing to do with us losing a nationally televised game that wasn't guaranteed in the first place. Everyone is/was saying that oh great we lost the game and a chance to be on national television - whatever... In all reality that is just not a big deal to me and people keep making a big deal of it. Especially when your team doesn't deserve to play on national television and we don't right now. The fact that we looked so far ahead to it was silly, especially with how difficult our schedule was going to get prior to the announcement of match-ups.

This makes a lot more sense to me than the original post you made, and I can actually get behind this. The loss at CU hurts more in terms of Valley standings and potential bracket construction in St. Louis than it does in terms of an ESPN game...however, the nationally televised game SHOULD be viewed as important in my opinion. It's another step towards increased regional and national attention for the team.

Yea. The people who watch it will be like "Oh, Indiana State, they are only known for Larry Bird. Look how empty it is there." That doesn't look like good pub to me

Yes, you're right. That's all anyone could possibly gather from watching an ISU game on TV. You know so much more than everyone on the board with your in depth analysis of Walker's skills and clairvoyant visions of attendance at ISU home games.

Why don't you try contributing something other than one sentence put downs to any conversation. I don't give two craps if you want to be negative, hell, sometimes I'm negative...but at least back it up.

Attendance has been on a steady increase during this season until the Evansville game. I'm sure there would be a great deal of local advertising (which has been successful this season) in anticipation of a nationally televised home game as well. It wouldn't be a sell out probably, but I'd bet there'd be a great deal of support.
