It’s absolutely ridiculous - all states, organizations, etc. need to revisit and adjust COVID policies… It’s hard to undo and start using common sense when we allowed the government/media think for us for the last 16 months. I just love the CDC coming out yesterday telling many of us what we already knew about the ridiculous “quarantine period”… As if I needed the CDC to tell him how long I should stay away from people if I got a flu like disease. W T F

We’ve lost our way and the road back will not be easy… It should start by adjusting these absurd regulations/rules surrounding athletic teams at the professional and college level.

I remember in March 2020 when I believed what I was told… stay home for two weeks and this will all go away… 🙄

Joe said yesterday that this is all up to the states now. What a leader! I guess the MVC and others are on their own now, that a mess!

"
The Valley better change their forfeiture policy now before it gets crazy! Looks like Bradley might fall the first victim to forfeiting a game in the Valley. #MVCHoops"
The Big 10 just revised their policy. If feasible the games would be RESCHEDULED if unable to play with enough available players/coach(singular).

I made a post on a message board with my fingers… Everyone on the internet knows it all - I’m far from the only one.

In fact - the NFL read my post on here and then suddenly adjusted the policy. It’s a miracle!

Just when you think things can't get any worse. I'm starting to see where the MVC is going to stop at 12 and I'm sure people in Terre Haute will be flocking to the Hulman Center to see the two teams they're going to add.

Drum roll...... UIC and UT Arlington.

If the MVC adds 2 and neither one of those is Murray State, we need to think about what long term goals the Valley has in mind and just how exactly we fit in. UTA literally does nothing for us (and the other 9 members), at least UIC keeps us in Chicago which is an important city to many MVC schools. The fact that we keep passing on Murray for some ugly betties because we think it'll attract 3 students 2000 miles across the country to attend an MVC is mind numbing. Hell, there is a lot more value in being able to pull students from western Kentucky to MVC schools who will likely stay in MVC land post graduation to work and raise a families.

Let's be honest. Murray State is the only program on the MVC's final list of 5 that even deserves an invite. The rest of them are all market schools that they are hoping will be the next Loyola. If we have to add one of those 4 then I guess UIC, only because of the close travel, would be my choice. Adding two market schools would be a huge mistake and would be adding just to add. I'm hoping what I've seen on various message boards is nonsense.

As for the COVID stuff, I think the game just shouldn't count if either team can't play it. They should obviously try to reschedule it if they can, but if they can't I just wouldn't count the game. Some teams may get lucky or unlucky with that system, but life isn't always fair.

Rick Semmler "MVC has announced men's and women's basketball teams that can't compete in conference games due to Covid, will be considered a no contest. MVC says if a school has 8 or more players and one coach available they will be required to play conference games."
