The Captain Level
ISU recruit Brandon Pounds -- two time Indiana high school champion -- won the national championship in the shot put at the 2008 Nike Outdoor Invitational at Greensboro, N.C. with a put over 68 feet, 11 inches. If he had thrown that far in the state meet he would have a state meet record. Here is one of Pounds' throws at Greensboro (though not the winning one):

At the same meet, ISU recruit Tra Wilson, also of Lawrence North, finished in third place in the long jump after leading until the last round. In the first round Wilson jumped 22 feet, 11 3/4 and maintained the lead throughout the competition until passed by two competitors in the last round of jumps.

Shaun Smith of Terre Haute South finished fourth in 100-meter dash.

The top six places earn All-America status. Smith has not declared where he will attend college.

amazing meet for these 2, I think there may be some eligibility issues for Wilson though? Hopefully he will be eligible to compete at ISU.

These 2 will REALLY help ISU in the field events/sprints.

ISU also has a very good shot put guy from Illinois signed to come this Fall too. (per the article in the Trib Star.)
