At least they are according to the kool-aid drinkers at the Indystar. My biggest problem with this is that Boise State has been on the national stage longer and accomplished more there than Butler. Sweet Sixteen runs and a recent title game appearance don't really compare with BEATING Oklahoma in a BCS bowl game a few years ago. And unlike Butler, Boise State has finally moved up a conference. I get where they're going with this, it's just a little too cute for my taste.

My favorite stretch they make:

"Hinkle Fieldhouse is unusual it that it was built in 1928, and Boise State's Bronco Stadium is renowned for its blue turf."

I wonder if Butler will put in a blue court this year.:krazy:

The best part of the story is the end that notes the biggest difference between college basketball and football, and is reminder of just how unfair football is.

I'll take two Fiesta Bowl victories over two sweet sixteen appearances and national title runner up.

Comparing fortunes between D-1 Football and Basketball is really not fair I would think, because there is no "BCS bias" that affects Butler in the polls (OK, there is a LITTLE) but Boise State has to deal with a true bias when it comes to post season because they are not in a major conference and it really does affect what bowl they go to because the whole bowl system is tied into conferences. I think the comparisons are pretty fair when you consider all of that or about at least as comparable as possible.

at leasr as comparable as possible.

I'll agree with that. They also both have to play tough non-conference schedules to get a shot at post-season consideration (assuming Butler doesn't win its conference). But this cute story about the teams pulling for each other and wearing each others shirts and what not is a bit much.

Agreed --- if Buttler would have moved from Horizon to the MAC to the Atl-10and had the same success; then it's a better comparison.

Course if Boise St 'plateaus' in the Mtn West, a different comparison can be made

Now that Utah and BYU will be gone it will likely be a battle between TCU and Boise State every year.
