The report examined actions by suspended Des Moines Lincoln High School football coach Tom Mihalovich, who is accused of violating school bullying and corporal punishment policies. Among Mihalovich’s offenses, according to the report: requiring a sophomore player to run sprints and laps as punishment for making derogatory comments about the school’s varsity squad.

Now, the belt thing is completely unacceptable and if the coach didn't stop this or didn't know about it that is a problem. But other than that...making a kid run sprints (how is that a problem?) making a kid do "up downs"? (how is that a problem?). This is football, not basket weaving!

My god...why have we become a nation of pussies? Cowboy up for cryin' out loud! Should someone be hazed, I don't believe so. But if they act out of line should they be punished...absolutely!!!!! If a kid posts something about his team (or the varsity) that is out of sorts...make him run, make him run, make him run! Nothing wrong with that...and oh my god, no water over a 25-30 minute time period of a day that 79 degrees...Try running what we called "whups" for 3 hours straight in 105 degree weather....this is where you jog until the coach blows the whistle twice, then you run at 70%, then he blows it three times and you run at 100%, then he blows it once and you jog...and do that for 3 hours straight!!!!!!

Wow...so now a coach is a bully and forced corporal punishment...but if he had kicked the kid off the team he would have been wrong, if he had questioned the kid and told him he was suspended for a game, that would have been a problem! No matter what...coaches, teachers and the like are not allowed to do anything anymore for fear of legal problems! It is just sad as hell!!!!!!!

Someone has to be in charge. The kids of today are not being taught to take any responsibility for their actions.A lot of them are going to be very disappointed when they find out they can't do whatever they want when they join the workforce.Sometimes I really fear for the future of our society.
