My second trip to North Dakota State and had another terrific experience. A few highlights: Went straight to your tailgating area (in an ISU jersey) and was immediately met and offered a beer and great conversation. Met two young men who played there a couple years ago and then met their father…talked about their travel to the National Championship last year and all said it was an amazing experience. Had a few strawberries filled with Amaretto and whipped cream (recipe will makes its way back to Terre Haute!). Very ironic, in that huge crowd I met #4’s (Smith) father. Ironic because his son is also a junior wide receiver, punt and kick returner… (you all need to find a way to get the ball in his hands more, great looking athlete).
Went down and was standing in the front row, 50 yard line on the ISU side to take a few pre-game pictures when and older mom and his wife (who I later found out owns several Chevrolet dealerships) offered me a seat next to them on the front row mid-field. I sat there the entire game in the midst of Bison fans and they were so very supportive and friendly all through the game as I jumped up and down cheering on our Sycamores. At half time I did have one older man (70’s) tell me to go back to f*%#ing Indiana…I extended my hand to shake his and he flipped me off lol. His wife was so embarrassed, I understood, just a great fan that didn’t care for me in their section!
After the game, nothing but pats on the back and congratulatory comments…class act and like others have mentioned, your success and environment is one ISU is using hoping to achieve in the upcoming years. Thank you again NDSU for the hospitality and best of luck the rest of your regular and post season.
