From an unabashed football supporter, congratulations to Head Coach Kevin McKenna, his coaching staff and his players for breaking the men's basketball losing-season streak.

I especially liked what he had to say after Tuesday night's win over Bradley: “It’s a credit to the guys who have put in the hard work and who have changed the culture or mindset. I think our guys are more competitive than our first two years. They’re more basketball serious. They’re more diligent about coming in to shoot, they’re more diligent about working on their weights. We’re just trying to build a program, we’re trying to be patient. The results will come, we have to keep working.”

Those words and comments could very well be referring to the football program as well.

Dan Millington, you should make a copy of those comments and post them in the football workout area so that the returning players can see and read them.

What Coach McKenna said about his basketball program can and should be used to motivate those returning and incoming football players heading into the 2010 season.

You have seen what Coach McKenna's team has done this year. Injuries to key players. Roster down to eight players. But they didn't quit. They didn't give up.

The basketball program is setting the example for all those football players who haven't yet seen a light at the end of the tunnel. Just look at what the basketball program has done this year under trying conditions. They stuck it out. Role players, like Aaron Carter, have stepped it up. The basketball program is showing the way.

Go Sycamores!!!! And keep up the hard work Football Sycamores!!!!!!

All very similar to the program that I most notable represent that track and field program - coach McKenna seems to be working toward a very similar model for success. Are the two sports the same, negative but can you look at what that track and cross country teams at Indiana State have done to be successful and try and copy that? Hell yeah you can!

morgan...i didnt mention track and cross country....

because John McNichols and John Gartland had a game plan when they took over their programs and they have stuck to that winning formula....they have not had so-called "down" years.....they just keep motoring along....the other athletic programs at Indiana State can learn a great deal from what they've done...and are continuing to do.....

The last two home games have been a pleasure to watch. One more pass for an open shot, TEAM defense, and lots of hustle, hustle, hustle like the Energizer Bunny. If I were to change one thing (and that's what us grandstand coaches do) we would dribble less and pass more.
